I wanna make a bard that mainly does growling and guttural vocals, anything I could do to fit the theme other than pick voice as one of my instruments?
I'm a bit late to this thread, but I'm about to venture into this idea for a character myself. The one difference though is I'm multiclassing into warlock, because what's more metal than selling your soul for rock and roll?! lol

Nothing quite like "death" metal than literally dying and being reborn (gothic lineage) for rock

Be a dwarf, preferably mountain dwarf. Also, choose college of valor.

Heavy drinking dwarfish death metal combat bard. Weidling an Axe lute
Tiefling or Dragonborn could also work.
I think I'll take Dwarf, because they look closest to typical viking out of the 3, and viking metal works great.
Dragonborn with horns and a longsword. Have an instrument built into the hilt.
