This comes down to personal preference, but I would be extremely disappointed if the default character sheet in DDB looked anything like that.
It's much too busy, looks terribly wasteful to print, and difficult to navigate due to the font choice. It's pretty, but, it has zero practicality as a tool for facilitating gameplay, at least in my opinion.
The printer friendly version at the bottom of that page is a definite improvement.

I have to agree with this. I hate saying it because some one put a lot of effort into it, but I would not want that sheet.
OH, no, what I meant has nothing to do with the layout. I mean all the built in functionality of the stat generation and character building, weapon management, feats etc etc that the sheet automates.. Its an extremely powerful tool on the back end. There is also a version that looks like the standard sheet as well if that sort of thing matters for you.
You really need to open it up and play with it to understand. But it makes creating and managing characters super easy, and is the minimum bar I would hold DDB too in order to be worth using over it.

I love that sheet man. But oh man is generating spell sheets on that thing RAM intensive. can take up to an hour. XD

I, on the other hand, couldn't imagine playing with one that looked like the printer-friendly one. As you say, personal preference. I think some of it is that, while I don't mind minimalist sheets, I specifically dislike what WotC did for the one in the PHB that is the basis for a lot of the minimalist sheets out there. I have players who have seen the MPMB one and still print out and hand-write on the WotC version.
I do love the MPMB one, though. Like, really, really love it. It's just gorgeous. While I might move a few things around, the design is almost as much of a draw as the functionality -- to me. If he got a C&D letter from WotC and the content got stale enough, I'd still probably use a form-fill version of that one over a fully automated one that looked like anything that WotC has put out on their website.
So... I sure hope that there are a variety of options for DDB. :D
Maybe we'll see popup boxes for feats, skills and weapons too. maybe even custom popup boxes for custom hombrew feats spells and weapons too. Perhaps this can make dynamic feat viewing on the character sheet and boons too. so much dynamic pop box possibility. also, digital dice rolling?. thats a good idea.

My biggest wish for the character sheet builder is the ability to include home brew ideas into all areas of the sheet. Including homebrew classes and races and still be able to do the math for you (maybe with pre-set limits that keep such things balanced. or maybe not I might just want to play a storm giant barbarian -jester). Obviously the ability to print on demand, but I'm less interested in a auto roller (Old school I know). I would also like the ability to see/print the character as either a classic sheet or a stat block (like a monster).
There is a lot to read on this thread, so please forgive me if it as been mentioned previously. This thread needs a pinned post of what has already been mentioned...lol
But, it would be really nice, if the character sheets were either optionally tied to either your tag on the left hand side, or as a 2nd "signature".
Or even the ability to only show it for the pbp thread it belogs to, if it is a pbp character.
This month!! :D It could be next week, it could be tomorrow, or it could be nearer to the end of the month. But for sure June will be a great month for PCs!
I cannot wait. I hate to put too much pressure on the character builder demo, but it is entirely true that the success of/price of the character builder WILL be the reason I either do or do not make the switch from "3.75" to D&D Next.
might have been on twitch or was a post by Adam Bradford (aka BadEye) that I read about the release sorry forget which one as listened to twitch dndbeyond vids and read a few forums here that were updated since last wednesday

there is need for a guide for figuring obscure things out, like jump height.

....I have begun to smile at this reminder.

rumour is that phase 2 will be June 30th
haven't heard any rumours or read when phase 3 will be launched though
Where did you read that rumour? I'm actually really curious
I wouldn't put much trust in rumors...

Phase two will certainly be released this month though, as was said by Adam Bradford (aka BadEye) on the Stream of Annihilation.
