I'm not exactly sure what the point of all this nitpicking for you is. This service is useful for some people, and not for others. If you feel like there's no value in it for you, that's fine. D&D Beyond doesn't fit absolutely everyone's needs. It fits a wide variety of people's needs, but it's not for everyone.
If you're here to get us to sell you on the product, that's not really our job. There are plenty of us who are more than willing to help answer questions that you may have, but I, for one, will not sell anyone on it, especially someone who seems determined not to get it.
If, on the other hand, your intent is to devalue the product in other people's eyes, I'd request you stop. D&D Beyond works for some, and not for others. Trying to devalue it because it doesn't fit your needs isn't very productive. It's just antagonistic, and I, for one, am not really up for combating a troll.
I'm here because I have thoughts that I wanted to share about a product that I'm interested in. If you feel that I'm nitpicking, I disagree to the tune of over $50 a year for several years. I'm sorry you feel that I'm devaluing the product, and I'm not sure how to respond to that. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the Beyond team, and you can go through my post history to see where I've praised them, and posted threads that I thought would help build the Beyond community.
As far as my expectations of you, it's simply that you are also here to discuss the thing that I'm interested in, and nothing more. You don't need to sell me on anything. Or even read my posts, let alone respond to them. I certainly don't come here to be antagonistic, or to troll you (or anyone else). I think my posts have made you feel defensive, and I honestly wish that that hadn't happened. I appreciate your time engaging with me, and your enthusiasm for the product.
On a completely separate note, I'm having trouble finding the price page by trying to navigate to it without using the forums. Where is it linked in the documentation pages?

If I unlock additional content, I can use such on MY character sheet. Other free players may not be able to create certain races, or use certain feats. If I unlock it, I can. This alone answers your challenge of a single way unshared, unlocked content benefits a player without a subscription - the desire to manifest character customization not included in Basic Rules/SRD.
Here's something that isn't quite clear for me, and I'm assuming the answer is no, but I could easily be wrong: assuming nobody has a Master tier subscription, can other people in my Beyond campaign see the digital character sheet features that I have but they have not unlocked? Can the group I've assembled on Beyond see the maneuvers I've picked for my battlemaster?
This is something of an issue because on the printed sheet (as far as I've been told), it only shows the names of the features.

I would they could see what was there but not the details around it, so if you chose a background that isn't available now, then they would see you have the background but not be able to look up any details. Then again I could be way off base which would not be the first time. Hopefully Filcat, Stormknight, or Sorce come along and clear it up for you.

Fine... I'll just keep my mouth shut then. ;)
They'll be able to see every detail that is shown on your digital sheet (you can expand race for details of features, expand background for details, etc). The DM of the campaign (at this moment) is the only person that can see the details. Everyone else will just see a small blurb of your character. This will be the same no matter what content you have unlocked.

I knew I was forgetting names, relates to another post I made about brain cells and frying them, hell I have lived in this house for 16 years and still don't remember my neighbors names. I forgot you and Sedge.

Thanks! That's very helpful. And much worseless information is available than I thought: only the DM can really see any detail other than name, race, level, classes, player and the picture. I really thought that character sheets would be public to all other players in the campaign. I don't know why I expected this.

We are not allowing all the players in a campaign to see other characters in the campaign to start for a pretty simple (but important) reason - some players have secrets that they don't want shared for the sake of roleplaying.
We plan to add the ability in the near future to share characters in general, and at that point we would allow a player in a campaign to set their display preferences for her character to allow other players to see it.

That's absolutely reasonable (and smart!) and I don't know why I expected otherwise. I regret using the term "worse" in my prior post: I simply used it to convey that there was less information available than I expected.
When and if that option is implemented, will other players be able to see unlocked content that they have not access to without a Master tier subscription somewhere in the party? Or is a Master tier subscription absolutely necessary to share any unlocked content?

I actually have a player in my campaign that wants to keep the fact that he's multi-classing secret, and as such is asking me to set up a different campaign for him to keep his sheet in so no one knows.

Character sharing (in general) will be read-only. We'll reveal exactly how that will work with locked content when we get a little closer to that time.

One thing for me as a DM especially with pbp campaigns I would like the ability to at lest view a player's character sheet before letting them into the campaign area itself and then end up having to just boot him etc. Seems to me for recruiting and reviewing purposes it would be a nice feature for a DM... just a thought anyway.

I would think they would just allow a read-only share of your character sheet viewable by anyone without a login, at least that's what I would want. For example, I create a character to play with my friends who don't use DNDB, and then I tell them about it, and send them a link like hey, check out my character on this site and let me know what you think. They click the link and it brings them to a read-only page with the character. I wouldn't want any authentication at all on that -- maybe it doesn't show spell text or magical item descriptions but it gives you the names/headers of everything.
This is just my wish though, nothing has been said as far as what will actually happen, and as BadEye just said, more info will be released right before they launch it (just like they have done with most other things).
I won't judge the mods or the team if you ignore this question, but why was the sharing of unlocked content changed so that it happens only with Master tier subscriptions?
My theory is that Beyond wouldn't make enough money on unlocked content without any subscriptions, since people would likely have shared the unlocked content without subscribing. But this means that a single $55 a year of income for that same group of people would put them across the threshold into making enough money. From a business' perspective, I don't really see that as a lot of money, so I'm a bit confused as to how it moved the needle from not enough to enough. Maybe more than one person per group would buy the Master tier subscription, pushing the income generated per group into the hundreds, which makes more sense, but I somehow don't think that'll be the case. And, if I'm right, and it isn't enough money, that would be financially bad for the Beyond team. Not that they would shut down (Curse is solid enough to be able to keep sustaining a project that doesn't perform well), but they would gradually lose resources (since that's what happens to projects that are supported but don't perform well), and we may see Beyond not develop all the things they (and I) hope to in a timely manner.
More theory: as far as I'm concerned, you guys should raise your prices on content, or offer some kind of $10-15 tier subscription that includes some locked content, such as the character-building, spell, item, monster and rule elements of sourcebooks and adventures. WotC seemed to do very well with Insider (the 4e version of Beyond), and that's what it cost and gave access to. I realize there's some kind of deal in place with that limits Beyond's ability to do so, but eating the loss now (by paying for those for most of those individual content licenses yourselves), while they're in the startup honeymoon period, and getting more income later would make Beyond perform better financially later on.
This might be a strange request, but it's one I'm asking for sake of myself, and the players in my campaign.
If I have a master tier, and a load of books bought through DDB, etc., and want to share just the PHB and some races from the other material, is that possible?
All the players in my campaign are new, and right now they're into using DDB and the global search feature, but they're also all really keen to not accidentally have spoilers from seeing monster stat blocks, or land in a section in the DMG that presents a lot of mechanics that might take them out of the story and into the meta. Since they only have access to the SRD right now, that's not a big deal. They don't click into the monsters, or the magical items, but it is possible to accidentally land in the monster stat blocks by typing the wrong thing now anyway: eg, if you're searching for the Assassin subclass of Rogue and end up in the Assassin stat block -- I know this, because I did this by accident.
Has this been discussed as a toggle feature? So even if I have literally every piece of material from DDB, I can selectively share that to players in my campaign? I do a lot of Homebrew content for campaigns, but I imagine this would be extremely helpful for people who don't want an adventure module visible. It's far easier to accidentally land on a page in content like that while browsing than it is to accidentally pick up the book in a bookstore.

Yeah i think the option to view other info needs to be just that, an option. Let the DM choose what is shared, maybe it's just Race/Name, maybe it's nothing, maybe it's everything. Just looking at someone you wouldn't necessarily know their class, you could guess at it but not be certain. For example, looking at someone with a staff, wearing robes, and holding a spellbook isn't necessarily a wizard, that could totally be a warlock and you wouldn't know right away. Rogues and Fighters can also be very similar. You would likely know that it's a Tiefling or half-orc, but knowing what his/her class is wouldn't be so easy to tell.

I have not been a moderator for long, but it has never been said that with a free account you could have shared the purchase content. Since the announcement in the Dragon+ interview, it was said that with a Master Tier you would have obtained a certain degree of sharing. The only thing that has changed about the Master Tier is that now whoever joins the campaign, no matter which subscription they have, can share purchased content.

This might be true: I skimmed a few posts to see if it was, and found nothing that contradicted what you're saying. I may have simply made an inference that things were the way I expected* them to be. Further, even I read it somewhere, Beyond is free to change their mind on what they're offering, and Beyond has certainly been very responsible with how they've been parceling out information, something I applaud emphatically, given with the way gamers in this environment churn information.
* I may have inferred this from the fact that if I can buy an adventure independently of subscription tier, there are elements of that adventure that I expected to be able to share in a campaign without buying a subscription. Magic items, to make an all-too-easy example, are meant to be passed on to the PCs, and it would make sense for them to be able to see that content.
