Greetings Beyonders!
We're happy to announce an initial release of the long-awaited Content Management feature!
After enabling content sharing for a campaign, a campaign DM can access the new content management page. They will see the content management button here:
The content management page will display a list of all licensed sources available to your campaign from all current players and the DM. Currently, free sources, like Basic Rules, will always be available to all users and cannot be toggled off.
The DM is the only user that can control access to sources for that campaign, though users may view the page to see what content has been blocked.
The DM will never be prevented from accessing a source that has been toggled off, nor will the user who actually purchased the source. If a user has access to a source through another campaign, they will still be able to access that source.
Once a source is toggled off, players in your campaign will no longer be able to access the compendium part of the source or the details page of any element from that source. Instead, they will see an access denied page, as shown here:
However, elements from the source are still currently available in the character builder, character sheet, and encounter builder. Restricting access in those tools will be coming in a future iteration.
Thank you so much to all our users who completed our survey and gave us feedback about this feature! Your responses helped us build this first iteration and also to prioritize what features need to come next. We learned that restricting access to compendium content was the most important aspect, that more fine grained control over items should come next, and that, lastly, we need to improve control around homebrew content.
And as always, happy dragon slaying!
FYI it seems to be missing a lot of the bundle content. Mostly adventures.
The only thing I am able to block are items that were not purchased with the legendary bundle.
Same here. Only one of my players has any digital content (PHB and DMG) and that's the only content I can see in the content manager. I got the Legendary Bundle back in May (April?) and none of that content can be controlled. So I'm guessing there's something flagging it to ignore/not see bundle content. New feature's gonna have bugs, but I hope y'all get it sorted soon. Otherwise stellar work, and thanks for continually rolling out the features.
We're looking into these issues. Thanks for reporting.
For follow-up information about this bug please email support at support@dndbeyond.zendesk.com.
For any feedback (not bugs) on the first iteration of Content Management, please post on the Content Management Master Feedback thread.
Any plans to implement something similar to this for Campaign character creation? It would be nice to be able to restrict Ravnica subclasses or Acquisitions Incorporated spells (for examine) inin somestances.
Yeah, that's what we're hoping to go with this. I can't say when we'd have that but it's definitely the next step.
Hey all, we've just deployed a patch that should fix that issue. If it doesn't please let us know!
Thanks,
Dave
Looks great now, awesome job D&D Beyond team!
Working perfectly! Awesome work =D
Oh awesome! This looks great.
Is there going to be a version of this for homebrew as well? I like to make some of my players' homebrew items ahead of time and I don't want them to stumble across them trying to add other items to their inventory.
Thank the gods!
Nice first step - can't wait until we can also customise the character builder / character sheet access too!
So to clarify, if I restrict access to a book, they can’t access the book itself, but all the character creation bits are still available for them, right? Gonna be running a Ravnica campaign and I’d like them to be able to make appropriate characters but block Krenko’s Way.
That is correct.
Finally! Yes, SCORE!!!
So I have a questions, about future enhancements. As it stands now I can block the source book but they have the character options, is that correct. Will there be options to turn off characters class/races in each source book? Even if you cant get that granular it would be nice to have an option to not share the book but turn on all the character features in that book seperatly.
As DM, I'd love the additional flexibility to toggle on/off specific spells from the various sourcebooks for a specific campaign.
I think you're already able to do this if you create the item but then remove it from your collection. Thereby, it will be in your creations but not in your collection, and IIRC only your collection is shared with your campaign. Whenever it's time to introduce it, go into your creations and add the item to your collection again.
Of course, this solution only works if you don't want different access sertings for different campaigns.
Oh sweet, thanks! I'll try to remember that.
