Hi, I am trying to join a campaign via a link, but the character I'd like to join with does not appear in the list of ones available. I believe this is because I didn't deactivate them from a test campaign on my own account, before deleting said campaign.
The character in question (Hjalgrim Kartun, if a dev is reading this :-) ) is still showing in my character list, however. Is there any way to 'free' them from the deleted campaign so they can be added to the new one?

You cannot join a campaign with a PC that is already in another campaign, you have to leave that campaign with that PC first and then you could join a new campaign with that character. Since you deleted that campaign with the PC still in there it’s now stuck in that campaign. You will likely need customer support to fix it for you (or else recreate the character from scratch): https://support.dndbeyond.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=602788
PS- “Deactivating” the PC would still have left it in that campaign. You would have needed to "remove” it from that campaign/“leave campaign.”
Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. It was a low level character, so I deleted them and manually rerolled them from a pdf backup as you mentioned, IamSposta, but I wasn't aware of the 'copy character' option. That's a very useful work-around for if I or one of my campaign-mates runs into that glitch again, thank you, naruhoodie!
I had that same issue, but did remove my character from the test campaign before deleting that campaign. He doesn’t show as being in a campaign, but still can’t join the new/real one. I was hoping to see a better fix that remake the character, it guess that’s what I’ll do, as well!
update — I did the copy character method and just added ‘bad’ to the original’s name, and was able to join with the copy, so that’s a pretty easy workaround!

Post the url to your character sheet so someone can take a look.

You could also Copy the character, and the copy wouldn't be assigned to a campaign.

I hadn’t thought of that.
