I'm not sure whether this is a bug, or working as intended. For example, I can read the Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron in its entirety even though I didn't purchase it. Eberron features don't appear in character creation - I have no option to select the Warforged race - and yet I can read all the details of Warforged in the source book.
Not a big deal for me, since I'm essentially getting free access to licensed material, but thought I should mention it in case the behavior is not intended.
Do you have a character in a campaign with Content Sharing enabled? If so, then you are able to read books that the DM and other people in the campaign own (unless the DM has blocked those sources.)
You'd only be able to use the character-builder options for a shared source if the character is in that campaign sharing the sources. Also you may need to toggle Eberron Content on (red/right) in your HOME | Preferences.
Okay, that must be it, thanks. I thought I couldn't see any of other peoples' shared content unless I went in through their campaign. When I could see the books without selecting any campaigns, I assumed I was seeing something I shouldn't have been able to.
I've become pretty familiar with DDB, but there are still nuances to learn. :)
You cannot use content being shared within a campaign on a character sheet that is not in that campaign. The compendiums being shared with you are not viewed “through” a campaign and are readable as regular.
