I cant add a homebrew item

I created a homebrew item for my character and when i go to add it to my inventory its not showing up
i have the homebrew tab checked to allow said homebrew items and its still not showing
help?

Is your character proficient with whips?

no but the item should provied me with prof/expertise if i made the item right

If the “is proficient” box is checked then it won’t show up in your search from the character sheet.
