I'm having this problem as well. Death cleric is not an option when selecting a domain
And I assume you read through the suggestions in this thread that helped other people. And since you didn't follow the suggestion of posting a link to your character, one of them must have worked and your problem is resolved. Glad we could help.

Hey, I bought Xanathar's, giving me access to Death Domain. But, for some reason, in character builder I cannot select it.
That would be because Death Domain is from the Dungeon Master's Guide I believe, no Xanathar's.

I also have the DMG too.
