Hey, so my player is trying to be a wizard with the war magic subclass but on normal 5e its not giving him the full wizard spell list... is this just a feature of war magic im unaware about? Im a fairly new DM so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Can you explain in more detail exactly what the problem is? Which spell or spells are missing, specifically?
But the first thing that comes to mind is that maybe the player doesn't own any content on D&D Beyond, so they're only seeing the spells from the free Basic Rules product.
The War Magic subclass doesn't limit the Wizard spell list in any way.
Another possible consideration: Are they using the 5.5e base class? If they have the 5.5e toggles off in their settings while using a 5.5e base, that will cause issues. Only 5e characters can access 5e spells and it's the base class, not the subclass, that decides this.

If you own content, make sure they are creating characters IN the campaign so they have access to any sources via content sharing.
