Thank you for your post - we appreciate people taking the time to give us feedback.
During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion and potentially others. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book, Module or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has not yet been announced.
The spell Hex is very much present on D&D Beyond. :)
It can be found in the Player's Handbook, which you will need unlocked on D&D Beyond to be able to access the spell, or you can purchase just the Hex spell as an option from scrolling down on that page.
hmm...i bought 3 books : player's handbook, sword cost and xanathir's.... i have 3 characters in the current campaign with friends....friend is a warlock... literally could add all the items and spells except "hex" which doesn't seem to be in the add menu. I accessed as DM to see his character and tried again...also no HEX spell...so i made my own "copy of hex". since it doesn't exist. Which is funny since how is it i have hex blade added but without Hex....LOL! I checkced my friend's hardcopy and yes, i know it's in the book. So is the DNDbeyond just wonky? or does it need to be activated elsewhere or something that i'm not seeing?
This subscription allows you to share your purchased content with others in campaigns, by activating "content sharing" for the campaign.
Without content sharing from a Master Tier subscription, your friend will not be able to use content from your purchases.
The reason you are able to create a homebrew version of the spell is because you have purchased access to the content - this is allowed, as long as you don't publish the spell to public homebrew (it should warn you and prevent this anyway).
THX! that literally explained it all and when i tried thru my account to make another warlock I could add the HEX spell. So yeah, you're right. Just my friends can't add the spell as I dont have the subscription. Hmm...not sure if i made it public or private. Will check it now.
I have a player who has a Master Tier subscription and he has sharing turned on me, the DM and the other players in the campaign. Yet I still can't add Hex to a Homebrew race I made for one of the players.
Content sharing only applies to 1) compendium access and 2) characters within campaigns. So if you don't own yourself, you can't add it to homebrew. You can either homebrew hex or you can purchase just the hex spell.
I have the PHB and the DMG. I am making an Archean Trickster. They are allowed to cast the Enchantment spells, but Hex and several other spells are not showing on the list of spells I can add. I can see and read the spell on DnD Beyond. Why can I not add it?

Hi there ShadowKast,
the Hex spell is a Warlock only spell, which is why you can't add it to your rogue character.
I have the Player's Handbook Purchased through dnd beyond, Whenever I make a warlock I can't add the hex spell, it just doesn't show up, but any of the other spells that come with show up though.
Dndbeyond, you shouldn't be ignoring this Hex bug issue. I've paid for the full version of the PHB and a Master subscription. I've created a campaign, linked my players characters to it, and enabled content sharing. There are multiple spells missing, including Hex. Most of the other content is being shared correctly, but plenty of it isn't. We've specifically noted that my Warlock/Paladin can't add Hex/Wrathful Smite to his character.
Please explain why I can't access content I've paid for. I've read all of the other answers and I'm satisfying those conditions. There's every reason my player should be able to add those spells.
The problem of the original poster—and indeed most if not all of the posters in this thread—was not a bug, but a misunderstanding about how content works here. In your case, however, it would appear to be a bug. Please post the full url for the character(s) affected, and a moderator can check it out. I would also suggest turning content shraring off and back on again.

Hello 4Nicodemus,
Please create a ticket with our support team for issues relating to purchased content not being available. They will be able to look into more details of your account than we can on the forums.
Additionally, as ArwensDaughter has stated, try turning content sharing Off, and then back On in the campaign in question.
Thanks for the replies. Turning off, and then back on, the content sharing helped. Though now I'm only wondering what else is missing that we haven't noticed. Either way, I'm experiencing buyer's remorse and wishing I would have just purchased the books. All of my players are laughing at me for being such a fool.
I did submit a support ticket, around the same time as my post. They have not responded yet. This is the part that really adds to my buyer's remorse. That there's clearly bugs and instead of saying "we're aware and we'll fix it", dndbeyond is ghosting customers and pretending it doesn't exist.
To be clear, for any potential buyers that search this forum. There most definitely are multiple bugs with the dndbeyond services. And it isn't just spells. My rogue added Boots of Balance to her equipment and it doesn't add anything to her acrobatics. It is 100% factual to say that dndbeyond's paid services have multiple bugs and dndbeyond's reaction is to just ignore it.
I'm hoping to get some refunds, but it's unlikely dndbeyond will even respond to me. I'd feel differently if dndbeyond would honestly and ethically address these issues.
Hi again 4Nicodemus,
I'm very sorry to hear about your experience.
Our support team deals with many requests each day, so it does take some time for them to get to each ticket. I can promise you that the support team does not ignore the tickets they receive. If you'd like to PM me with your ticket reference number, I would be more than happy to follow up with the support team for you! :)
As far as the "Boots of Balance" are concerned, that is not an official item from a D&D 5th Edition source. I was also not able to find any published homebrew by this name. Could this item have been created as homebrew by one of the members of your campaign? D&D Beyond cannot control homebrew content, but we (moderators and the community) are always happy to help users figure out the best way to make their homebrew work the way the description entails! You, or the user in your campaign who created the item, would be more than welcome to create a thread here on the forums or post on our community Discord with the item's information so that we can help your group make your homebrew items function as you intend.
Thanks for the additional information, 4Nicodemus.
Unfortunately the Belt of Balance is also not an official item provided by any D&D 5th Edition sourcebook. I believe you did not create the item, however are you certain a player in one of your campaigns has not created the item? All private homebrew is automatically shared by users in a campaign, so you may have access to the item from one their creations. I might recommend asking if one of them has created this item, to try and help source out where it came from.
If you're certain it was not, would you be able to provide me a link to the character sheet that the item is present on? I can take a look and try to figure out what isn't working properly. Please use the direct URL from the address bar and not the share link and I'll give it a look as soon as I can.
As for your other concern, if you PM me with your ticket reference number, I would be happy to advise the support team of the updates to your ticket based on your responses here, however I am not able to assist with support related to personal or financial information.
The spell HEX appears to be missing from the SPELLS section

Do you (or someone else in the campaign) have a Master Tier subscription?
This subscription allows you to share your purchased content with others in campaigns, by activating "content sharing" for the campaign.
Without content sharing from a Master Tier subscription, your friend will not be able to use content from your purchases.
The reason you are able to create a homebrew version of the spell is because you have purchased access to the content - this is allowed, as long as you don't publish the spell to public homebrew (it should warn you and prevent this anyway).

Having a similar issue.

Hi there ShadowKast,
the Hex spell is a Warlock only spell, which is why you can't add it to your rogue character.
The Arcane Trickster subclass is allowed to select spells from the Wizard spell list.
