normally I would just reload the page but it happens very frequently and after this has happened once, I become unable save changes to the character sheet. does anyone know the reason for this?

do you have any homebrew on the character? that is usually the reason.
Also, can you post a link to the character (from the URL bar) so mods can take a look.
