So, I'm attempting to make a subclass for the Rogue based of of Matt Mercer's Gunslinger subclass for the fighter (essentially the sniper who picks off targets from off of the combat map.)
So, for the Trick Shots, I kept it mostly the same, with you getting two of them at third level, but I changed one of the trick shots to one of my own creation that is actually mandatory for your first pick. I checked the granted box on this particular option and make the options known box read 3,7,10,15,18 so that it wouldn't wind up giving me two options after getting the mandatory one.
That didn't work, because it let you pick one option, but didn't list the one that had been automatically given.
Next, I tried to go back to 3,3,7,10,15,18 in the options known box, thinking it needed an option open to give you that one. Instead, I get two choices and if I select the one that's supposed to be mandatory, the sheet just says that I have one of my options, the mandatory one and a third one that I did not choose yet. I hadn't tried choosing one that wasn't the mandatory one, but I suspect I'd either just have three of these Trick Shots (when I should only have two) or I'd just have the two and neither of them would be the mandatory one.
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here and it's not helping that I have to fiddle around with it for ten to twenty minutes after every edit to get it to show the new updated rules.
Update: Found out what happens if you select something other than the mandatory one when you have the two options: If you select two non-mandatory options first, those are the only ones you get. BUT! If you select one, then the mandatory one and go into the character sheet and see it says
Non-Mandatory Option
No Choice Made
Mandatory Option
Then, you go back and fill in the choice with a non-mandatory choice, it shows this
Non-Mandatory Option
Non-Mandatory Option
Mandatory Option
This suggests a possible fix, but it's messy. I'll try it and see if it works.
I tried doing essentially the same thing that got me three options, but with only 3,7,10,ect in the options known box. So, I picked the mandatory one and the sheet read
No Choice Made
Mandatory Option
Then I went back in and chose the one that I could choose and, finally, got this:
Non-Mandatory Option
Mandatory Option
Really messy way to do it, but the sheet's at least right now!
If anyone has any clues on how to do this better without such hoop jumping, please let me know.
In order for "is granted"to work you have to list a prerequisite and that prerequisite has to be an "option" they chose from another trait. I explain how to properly set up options more in-depth in this thread:

But it's granted as part of this same class feature. It doesn't stand alone by itself.

I hope that helps.
