well if you have aqusitions incorperated the spells jim's magic missile and distort value might be worth, i mean jims magic missile deals a lot of crit damage so if you have like an spellcaster with hold person or are an spellcaster with hold person you can deal an massive 15d4 damage with an 1st level spell slot and another 5d4 per spell slot above 1st if you do not roll a single nat 1 with advantage, and distort value is just fun for scamming people, as is illusory script. If you wanna be less of an con man and more of an stabby boi then booming blade and shadow blade are two spells that simply must be combined for their abillity to hurt your opponent quite a rather lot, shadow blade is an finesse weapon so you can deal sneak attack psychic damage with it .
Knock literally negates the need for your thives tools, but takes one of your valuable non illusion spells.
Phantom steed and hold person are like shadow blade not really expected for the arcane trickster archetype, but they are quite powerful in the right tricky hands, and on top of that hold person works with magical ambush.
And speaking of magical ambush fireball is probably the best spell for synnergy with that feature, but charm person is also really good with that spell

Invisibility coupled with expertise in stealth. I prefer alter self. Haste is nice but nondetection help protect from magic and is a worthwhile alternative.
well for the most part you do not need to worry about later levels, but if you for whatever reason want another concentration spell for the sake of having another concentration spell (why?), then fear, hypnotic pattern and major image are all great for diffrent reason while also being illusion/ enchantment spells, and both haste and fly are spells that are really practical for a rouge to have but you could only have one or the other, and if you are able to survive all the way to 19th level then polymorph is an cool thing

My Arcane Trickster is a Fennec which is a Small humanoid, so 1 of my first level spells is Reduce/Enlarge. It means that I can couple that with Mage hand and throw myself for dramatic exits.
A Deep Gnome would make one seriously awesome Arcane Trickster!
Along with the innate Svifneblin Magic...OMG.
neat but that has not a lot to do with deciding what spells are best for an arcane trickster other than removing the need for nondetection and disguise self

I love hideous laughter in general, but it's definitely great for rogues. Booming blade and green flame blade can be used with Sneak Attack, which is very handy.
