This was mentioned way up there somewhere, a Human Sorcerer. I would think a Human Sorcerer would be rather disadvantageous to the player. Sure, you take the Light Cantrip. But this really limits your range of sight which, in turn, limits a lot of the powerful(ish) ranged spells you can cast. And we need go no further than Fireball. Range 150 feet. You can see no further than 20 from the light source (an additional 20 feet in dim light). This places the caster dangerously close to the damage area from Fireball and also reduces the targets at which you may cast. They have to be within that range from the light source or you cannot see them.
Edit: Sorry. Just realized I cast Spare the Dying on this thread.
It's certainly decent. Defense against charms and sleep spells, the extra +1 and skill proficiency; all round just a very efficient, well-rounded pick.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
Ok but unironically though, pack tactics is a huge boon, turn denial, and the -2 Str is not a deal breaker 'cause you're a sorc. Sunlight sensitivity is a pretty big pain in the neck, but it's hard to argue the benefits.
Stats aren't perfect for it but that shouldn't stop you. Sounds like fun (although wizard would line up with gnome stats much better), Maybe Halfling if you want someone diminutive in size.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
I think variant Tiefling are incredible because their racial bonuses can allow you to make a pretty defensive sorcerer who does not really sacrifice any offense. You get Fire resistance and flight at level 1 and taking Storm Sorcery and Infernal Constitution also give you Ice, Lightning, Thunder, and Poison Resistance. Since you really only need 18 in Sorc for all the goodies that leaves you a 2 level dip for Hexblade Warlock (recommended early on) to pick up medium armor and shields. Finally, the bonus point to int allows you to consider taking Ritual Caster (Wizard) to beef up your utility spell counts.
Thanks for the input. I decided to go with the scribe gnome. I am now trying to find a concept for my back up character. I always have to have a character ready so I don't get too discouraged if my hero dies.
Half-elf and tiefling have the same charisma bonus and if you use the scag variants or the mordenkainen's variants you realize tiefling is one of the most customizable races out there
Aasimar are pretty great, especially for Divine Soul Sorcerers, or Shadow Sorcerers for Fallen Aasimar.
Draconblood Dragonborn seem pretty good as well.
Tieflings are super versatile, and work perfectly, too bad there isn't a fiend-blood sorcerer yet.
Drow work great with the innate spells and charisma bonus, and fit thematically with Shadow Sorcerers. Eladrin also seem to work well, especially with Wild Magic Sorcerers.
The new Satyr race that is coming out should work well, as it will have a Charisma and Dex bonus.
Yuan-Ti Purebloods, besides being OP as heck, are very good for sorcerers.
Changelings fit well, and are very versatile, also seem to fit Wild Magic sorcerers well.
Kalashtar seem to fit well, especially Aberrant Mind Sorcerers from the UA.
Warforged are great with the Clockwork Sorcerer from UA.

Human - versatile and viable for basically any Sorcerer build. Charisma build, Wisdom build, even if you want to drop a few points into dex it's fairly flexible. Only tried Draconic Ancestry Sorcerer so far but I think Human is a pretty safe bet, especially if you're just dipping your toes into the waters of a new class (even more especially seeing as it's a spellcaster).

Ones are righteous. And one day, we just might believe it.
Would going for a High elf be a good option?

I may sound stupid but, I do love the idea of centaurs for sorcerers due to the creative ability of them and not the skills/points/stats.
Mainly I like the idea of thinking of a unicorn centaur that casts spells. x3
To be honest, I like tabaxi. They’re ability to have extra movement speed makes me feel safer, because sorcerers only have a D6 for their health.
I think it's pretty hard to beat half-drow.

Dont forget that half elves qualify for the feat eleven accuracy. Pure gold.
Kobold > All :)

I am thinking about creating a gnome scribe sorcerer, Any reasons i shouldnt?
