Hey ya'll, I wanted to know if you guys share the same sentiment as me. I've been reading through Tasha's in hopes of rolling up a new Warlock. Is it just me or are Fathomless and Genie really good subclasses?
For Fathomless you get some solid damaging spells that double as area control, as does your 1st and 10th level features. Resistance to cold damage and the 6th level ability help your survivability, and the swimming speed, talking underwater and 14th level ability have some decent utility. Obviously the utility is only really great for ocean/swamp themed campaigns, but is still pretty good.
For Genie the expanded spell lists are great, allowing you to excel at area control (dao and marid, though djinni can do some of this as well) or damaging spells (djinni and efreeti). The genies wrath feature means EB does even more damage and pairs well with AB. The subclass provides some survivability as the warlock can hide in the vessel and has resistance to one of 4 damage types (all of which are relatively common, though the bludgeoning resistance from dao really helps if you take pact of the blade to be that bit tankier against melee foes). The utility though is insane. Hiding in the vessel to pop out when needed or to sneak around. 10 minute short rests are great, ans taking allies in too helps to get up class features like wild shape or second wind, a flying speed is great for combat as well as exploration scenarios.
All of it just seems pretty great for both of them. Having only played Bard, Ranger, Cleric and Barbarian, I don't have the best Warlock knowledge in terms of whats powerful (I understand that EB with AB invocation is good, everyone does), so hopefully you folks could help?

I would put genie ahead of fiend and undead, I agree they are good but not broken subclasses.
The "best" warlock subclass depends on your campaign and how you count multiclass. Hexblade is very front loaded in campaigns tht end at a low levelit is the best subclass but art level 6 others catch up. For multiclass Hexblade offers an insane amount as a dip with a whole host of other classes.
There is a lot of space inside a Genie Vessel. Described as a cylinder 20' tall, and 20' in radius. Admittedly, you are heavily limited with what you can do in there because you can only visit for several hours, once per day, and are basically limited by what you can carry, and can't bring others inside until 10th level.
That said, if you had access to a fantasy Home Depot, and the appropriate skill proficiencies... or a willing Patron, you can fit a lot of stuff in there.

A bit unrelated and it seems they are moving away from unique spell lists, but I always thought it would be cool if sub classes got some unique spells, not hey they have access to some other spells from another list but a spell only that sub class can cast. Necromancers having unique undead summoning spells etc, and specifically for genie lock a spin on the 8th level mighty fortress line the other main casters got. Which worked as an expansion to the genies ring, a door opening in a wall and for 7 days another space is attached to the ring, with food/servants and furnishings. Obviously scaled back a bit as you can't get 100 people in there for 100 meals etc but it being extra dimensional even if it has a worldly connection with the ring is a perk.
On the right side (upper) floor ? Nah, it's a rug with a magic circle on it, in front of a double door. The only actual bed in the mocked up map is on the left (lower floor).
When I was mocking it up a few weeks ago, I thought of it a place where the Warlock's patron could politely enter the Vessel themselves for a visit, if they so desired. Not that the Patron is required to be polite.
I think genie is honestly the best warlock subclass at the moment, especially when built with pact of the chain. You can pretty much have access to flight at lvl three just by going into your vessel and having a flying imp carry it wherever.
The vessel also makes it possible to squeeze in a short rest where it might have been otherwise impossible to do. This is huge as it allows the genie more spell slots in a day compared to his other warlock compatriots.

Yes they are good, I wouldn't say they are better than Fiend or Undead. But they are good.
