I pay a subscription, part of that is to not have adds on the site. I keep having adds pop up for phone company's. I was already irate enough by your personal adds to buy books I HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT. BUT WHY THE HELL AM I PAYING TO HAVE NO ADDS IF YOU KEEP SHOWING ME ADDS??????
Nowhere on the subscription page does it say a subscription will remove ads. You can always get an adblocker or use a browser that has one baked in. There is no lie.
Leaving OGL 1.0(a) untouched and making SRD 5.1 CC-BY-4.0 is a great first step. The next is a promise to do the same for future editions. Here's a discussion thread on that.

Actually that is untrue. Purchasing a subscription removes Google ads for that user, which seems to be what the OP is speaking of.

There is a check box in your account page under preferences for Always Show Ads. I would see if that is checked or not. My only other thought is did you at any time create more than one account and have logged into one without a subscription? It has happened before so I'll throw it out as a possibility.
Barring either of those two you would likely need to submit a support ticket.

Subscriptions do not remove ads, as can be seen on the subscription features page:
You may have this feature enabled, which is available to all users regardless of if they have a subscription or not:
Note Lil_Spoon’s join date, though: back then, one of the perks of subscriptions WAS no ads. I date back to that time, and I remember that clearly. (It’s even in the buyer’s guide I wrote, because it was true when I first wrote it. Looks like I need to go back and edit it.). At some point, that perk was apparently quietly removed, so I can understand Lil_Spoon’s frustration.

That's a fair point, however the ad override has also been there since back when subscriptions remove ads. That's why the options help tooltip says it will display adverts even with a subscription. So either way, there is no deception on D&D Beyonds part, just an accidentally enabled toggle, one would assume.
I feel it's worth noting that the reason that the description of subscriptions was changed, so it didn't mention removing adverts, was because we removed adverts for all users.
They were just a bad experience for everyone.
I think the only thing on the site that could be considered an advert is the promotion for the D&D Beyond mobile app, that's on the character page.
My guess is the advertising in question is actually the banner proclaiming sales. It's a mild aggravation, in my view aggravation is too strong a term even, but not something I'd start a forum post about. Other posters, besides this one, do think it's worth a vent.

Jander Sunstar is the thinking person's Drizzt, fight me.
The old blue banner sale notifications at the top of the page were a minor nuisance due to blocking the search and menu bars, but now that they do not anymore, I am fine with them. Since I frequent the site more than I check my email, I do prefer that Beyond keep the notifying us of any sales going on at the top of the page. I think a decent compromise would be to let people be able to turn off top-of-page sales notifications, so people want to take advantage of the sales can keep getting notified, and people who do not want to be notified will have to be okay with missing out on sales at their own risk.

DDB is great, but it could be better. Here are some things I think could improve DDB
