The boomerang equipment in D&D Beyond does not have the thrown property, even though it seems logical that it should. It is preventing me from using the returning weapon artificer infusion with the boomerang, and the official Returning Boomerang link gives me a 404 Page Not Found error.
Would it be possible to fix both of these problems? Thank you!
I'm getting an error for a homebrew item saying it's too close to the Returning Boomerang item i have linked in the op.
So if the thrown property is constrained to melee weapons, perhaps the infusion could be reworded to specifically include the boomerang, and this probably isn't the right forum for that. And I suppose DDB wouldn't code the infusion with a boomerang exception unless they change the rule.

the boomerang is not a melee weapon so it is not eligible for the thrown property.
also, there is no Returning Boomerang magic item.

The only actual published boomerang is the storm boomerang, D&D Beyond had to make up the base item in order to make the magic version. The item linked was probably made by mistake and deleted from some parts of the database but not others.

Ahh, i was wondering why the mundane boomerang's description said it came from the basic rules, but it was not listed in the player's handbook.
