If it is, how long do you think you will live? Or what do you think a fair price for a lifetime subscription should be (based on annual price, I think 500$ might be good)?
Please don't clutter up this sub-forum with joke posts. Keep that stuff to Adohand’s Kitchen
You are neither a moderator and nor are you the arbitrator of what can and cannot be posted here and you are also not a moral judge who can administer proselytization from on high. I happen to have $1,000 burning a hole in my pocket and thought about the fact that there is no option longer than one year to subscribe here for and when my yearly subscription is up in eight months, I may not have money spare to continue my subscription. The reassurance of having a lifetime subscription may be trivial or insubstantial to you, but it is something I wouldn't mind, hence this post.

Just jumping in to say that, if at any time someone feels that a post is causing an issue in the sub-forum it's in, they are welcome to contact a moderator to ask them to look at it.
There's a very high chance that a moderator has already read the thread though and would have already moved the thread should they consider that is needed.
Back on-topic - there should be a Q&A stream this week, so please ask on there! :)
If you can't make the stream, let me know and I can ping Badeye your question.
Sorry, your response to my query seemed less constructive than what is the norm for this sub-forum. I was genuinely curious to what the advantage would be for such a payment option. It seems, and correct me if I'm wrong, you simply have a lot of cash to hand and want to spend it on something?
I didn't mean to cause offense and I wasn't trying to dictate what you post, just making a request to help keep this part of the forum on point for its purpose. I apologise for not being clear about what I meant and seeming derisive or hostile.
Can you not purchase additional years that stack onto the current time you have? That would likely be the best option all in all to make available, that way if you want a couple of years, you can or if you want 10+ you can do that too.

Nope. If I bought a yearly Master Tier subscription right now, I would have to cancel my current one (which still has 8 months on it) and start anew.

I specifically came to the forums to see if this question had already been asked.
I routinely purchase courses/material online, and one of the biggest draws for me is unlimited access. Maybe I don't have time to take this web development class right now, but if I have lifetime access to the material... add to cart. Yes, this website isn't the same as purchasing a course on Udemy or other site (for example), but if a lifetime subscription were made available and was reasonably priced, I'd buy in without hesitation.

It's personal preference (and I prefer it).
To be clear: if you purchase the content from the marketplace, you get lifetime access to the content, even if you don't purchase a subscription. The subscriptions don't provide content, they add benefits, for lack of a better term. The Hero tier allows unlimited characters, the ability to add public home-brew to your collection, and removes all adds. The Master tier provides all those benefits plus allows you to share content with up to three campaigns, each campaign can have 12 characters in it.
Maybe that doesn't provide what you want, and that's ok., but there's been enough confusion about how the subscriptions and content interact that I wanted to clarify.
Ditto. Why not offer lifetime membership, Master Tier, for say USD $500? Or obviously do the maths for how long Master Tier subs usually last per user, cumulatively over that user's lifetime, for example if a user subscribes for a 12-month period, lapses for a couple of years, and then subscribes for another six-month period another time, count that as 18-months total. Average that over all your members, or maybe average it over your top 30% of members, and set the lifetime membership fee at twice the average lifetime spend on membership.
D&D Beyond should make a little bit more money from those members, at least in the short to medium term and likely in the long term too. The members that want to can have some peace of mind with their one-off purchase. Win-win!
You do realize that other VTTs offer both subscription and one-time purchaces, right? (*cough* Fantasy Grounds *cough*) So why not DnD Beyond? (And you still need* to buy the various content, just like DnD Beyond.)
There are those of us (*raises hand*) that very much dislike monthly subscriptions - to anything. I much prefer a one-time payment of say, $300, over monthly payments of $6. Cryptic (Neverwinter) offers lifetime subscriptions for $300 nominal, which occasionally go on sale for $200, even though you can also play the entire game for free. But just like DnD beyond, the subscription offer other perks, besides content. So why ask "why" some want a lifetime subscription option? Just realize some prefer it. :-)
* OK, OK - technically you don't "need" to buythe content for Fantasy Grounds, *IF* you want to code it yourself. But most people would rather buy the pre-coded stuff as it's easier than coding everything yourself. Still, I'm sure there are a few people who would like the challenge of doing their own coding, so... ;-)

...Lifetime Master Tier Subscription?
I find this to be unacceptable.

I can't tell if this is serious or not.

I give this site a minimum lifespan of 10 more years so $500 USD would be fair, I think.

What would be the advantage of this option?

Because this website isn’t even 5 years old and they don’t have that data yet other than the number of people who subscribe annually and don’t stop.
