hear me out, WotC said they are not forcing anyone from using 2024, yet all of what you do is forcing us to have it and use it. WotC said 2024 was backward compatible and it really is. its quite simple in fact. but somehow nothing works together on the beyond website. in fact since i bought the 2024 book, all species and classes have stopped working as intended. players getting no stats from one side, to getting twice the number of stats if they stack the game right. not to mention the dual multiclassing into the very same classes.
i think at this point that it is clear that your side didn't really understand what WotC wanted from the get go. because right now everything seems to work inversely of what WotC wanted. we need a toggle for 2024 and we need it right now. you also need to stop thinking 2024 is not backward compatible cause it is. for the new classes old subclasses should simpyl say, "gives everything from older levels up to this level." but right now your classes do not even mix together. like at all.
i'm thinking some communication didn't go through somewhere or that your crew didn't understand a thing WotC said. because, its whack right now.
i think you should stop brute forcing us into 2024, gives us a toggle to make it off for now until you fix everything. because 2024 right now, i making things far worse for everyone.

You seem to believe wotc and D&D B are separate entities. They are not. They are the same entity, the same people.
If WotC owns D&DBeyond, then they need to listen to their customers and make a toggle so you don't have to use the 2024 content. They aren't going to force me to buy their new books, they are making me think about canceling my account. This is like when Apple started throttling everyone's phone speed on the older phones to force you to buy a new phone. It is BS.
I'm not even against buying the new content if it provides an overall better experience for my players, but currently this is impacting my ongoing 5E campaign heavily as I have to explain the difference between "legacy" and all of the forced new content that I can't turn off for them. There are several issues caused by these forced changes.. They really need to fix this.. I really don't want to be forced off this platform and on to the competition. This just leaves a bad taste for the 2024 Core Rules that could easily prevent people from ever engaging with them in the future.
DnDBeyond, please allow me to disable 2024 content. Choosing spells, feats, races/species and other things is now much more difficult than it used to be. The idea behind character creator should be "make it simple" not read everything few times because you have two versions. We still want to use some older stuff in older campaigns and now you are promoting 2024 content over 2014 campaigns because you own a book. It is just sad to see.
It's really rich seeing people complain about both rulesets being present when we just had a whole stink of people demanding both be present. And this is still interpreted as "forcing" the new rules somehow? I honestly think some of y'all just want to be angry no matter what at this point, I'm sorry.

It's not that complicated. The 2024 rules should have a switch to disable/enable them the same as 2014 legacy content. I feel like you know this though and have no interest in either side, only looking to stir the pot.

You’ve completely missed the point. No one is complaining “about both rulesets being present”. The complaint is to do with its implementation and as another poster has stated, you already know this.
Expecting paid for content to be available for use with the digital character sheets does not mean we also have to okay with half-baked patch work that janks up both versions, instead of a toggle system that they ALREADY have in place for other content.
We spent a fortune on "Legacy" content that is now very difficult to use. Why can't there just be a way to turn off all 2024 content? I don't want to buy all the books all over again. This is an obvious cash grab. I am cancelling my subscription. Not giving this company another cent until they fix it.
I agree. I am trying to run Dragons of Icespire Peak, and I was trying to reward my players with the Dragonslayer Longsword (2014 basic rules). We couldn't add it to the player's inventory. I looked, and there were no equivalents in 2024. I was told that I could use anything in 2014 rules that was not in the 2024 books. This item wasn't in the 2024 books and I still couldn't add it...
The only way I could do this was to create a homebrew copy of an item... Which then I can't share to the community since it has a similar item for 2014 that no one can add to their characters...
The integration is really bad over here. For what should be the easiest tools to use, really is becoming a nusance. We keep hearing about these 3D maps when we don't even have 2d maps released in full, and we can't even get the basic game content right. Common!
It's really making me think I should start investing in a different platform

Dragon Slayer Longsword is in the items, able to be added to character sheets. I just confirmed. Remember:
1. You need the Legacy toggle enabled on the character sheet 2. Dragon Slayer is 2 words
I haven't purchased the 2024 Player's Handbook on DDB, but I'm still getting the free "Core Rules" in a privileged position at the top of every screen, and the 2014 legacy options I want to use shoved all the way down to the bottom, even below supplementary content from other sourcebooks. I think that qualifies as "brute forcing."
I'd like to request a drop-down with the options "Prefer 2024" (current order), "Prefer 2014" (place 2014 core legacy options at top, followed by sourcebooks, followed by 2024 core) and "2014 Only" (2014 core legacy options at top, followed by sourcebooks, no 2024 core). I don't plan to use the 2024 character creation rules, and trying to create a character using 2014 rules is an incredibly cumbersome process at the moment.
I will not add new players to my campaign and will disallow character swaps as long this is not fixed. If its not fixed until Daggerheart releases, you wont see me again.

You seem to believe wotc and D&D B are separate entities. They are not. They are the same entity, the same people.
Nope. Hasbro bought beyond. Wotc is a division of hasbro. Same for beyond. They are a division of hasbro. So no they arent the same entity. Also no. The developpers for beyond arent the same that designed the books. Yes they are all part of the same company. No they arent the same people.
If you dont think divisions in a company are different then you should look for how hasbro works. Now communication is key around division but apparently they are not on par with each others. Oftem misscommunication due to miss interpretation happens often. The suits as you say have a say in it. But if developpers dont understand or missunderstand then there are problems.
Right now beyond doesnt work like the books does. Which prooves that there things that werent understood. Me think beyond is still on the old lets change everything to 2024 but did not have time to change it back after the fast "turn around" they did.
Overall this only shows that 2024 wasnt ready to launch yet.

You do realize that WotC purchased DDB a good while ago and directly tells DDB what to do. Don’t you?

Regret supporting dndbeyond looking at what is happening now. No respect whatsoever to existing customers, money grab over forcing 2024 crappy rules
