Is there, already, a way to add a currently created character to a campaign you've been invited to or created? If not, this would be nice capability. - Add existing character to existing campaign. - If character is removed from campaign, character should not be removed from the player's character content. - if character is deleted from player's own character list, character should be removed from campaign / or, at least, put in Deactivate Status. - Maybe an approve or deny option for GM/owner of campaign when character inclusion is requested?
Yes, you can add a character you have already created! When you use the campaign join link, you should see your list of created characters to add to the campaign. A character may only be in in one campaign at a time.

Just a thought.
-You can as Mellie pointed out
-Characters are not deleted if they are removed from campaign.
-Characters are removed from campaign if they are deleted.
-The GM can edit and remove characters from the campaign. If you dont want someone to join, dont give them the link. If you want to kick someone, remove their characters and change the link.
I was just started a new campaign, and I sent myself the invite link. When I clicked on the link, it showed me all my unassigned characters and I could choose one to add to the new campaign.

You don’t actually need to send the link to yourself, you already have it. You can just copy it and past it into the URL bar.
Can my player characters build their own characters on their own accounts, and then assign them to my campaign with the invite link? Or do I have to create their characters and then assign them on my own account?

Either or. With the join link, any account can either add an existing character or make a new on in the campaign. Any account in the campaign can also unassign a character for any other account in the campaign to claim, transferring the character.
It's so counter intuitive and it is not at all obvious, especially if you are trying to add your own character or NPC. It seems this flow was meant to handle "invite some other D&DBeyond account holder to play in your game" (its fine for that) and is repurposed for the creator of the campaign (for which this is more complicated and less obvious than it should be). Please make it such that we can directly add our own characters to our campaigns from the campaign without the link.

It should be made clear that this applies to DMs as well. If you have built characters for your players already, you can follow the link, import the character, unassigned the character, and repeat the process for all other characters.
not all of my characters are showing up as available for the campaign i was just invited to. i got the invite a few days ago and made a new character last night but when i click on the invite link it shows me all of my characters *except* the one i created last night. any advice?

Is the character already in a campaign? You would have to remove it first.

it is not. i do have a character in another campaign, and that one appears in the list greyed-out, instead of not showing up at all.

Not all who wander are lost... Except Lieutenants; they are definitely lost!

Sweet. Thank you both!

It won't work on my end. It only show "Create unassigned character" and then takes me to create a new one.
Do you have any characters created that are not already in a campaign?

I can only echo what has already been said on this thread already:
Can the DM do it?
Yes, with their own characters.
