My suggestion is to create a "Legacy Collection", including all of the subclasses from UA that were not included in official material, and removed from D&D Beyond. To help those of us who have at one point selected a UA class for our D&D Beyond characters, just to have those subclasses removed. I understand that these classes may be available in the Homebrew section, but considering the involvement from both official D&D creators and the community in these creations, it would seem to me that they deserve a special place all their own, which would also increase accessibility (and attention to) to UA content overall. The downside is that it would be an open ended collection, as it is still added to within the subsequent UA release cycles. Including the Class Versatility UA, there is enough material there for a Xanathars Guide-sized tome of all of the mysterious creations that exist on the fringes of D&D reality.
WotC has requested that DDB 'archive' the UA content that isn't being developed, but that doesn't mean your previously created characters should be affected.
WotC doesn't want end-of-life UA content knocking around in places where it may be confused for active playtest, because it doesn't contribute anything to the UA process.
There's also the fact that it adds to overhead for maintaining databases, system toggles (they'd have to add a 'Legacy Collection' option/flag throughout the site).
Basically the RoI for WotC/DDB is too low, especially when the PDFs are still out there for people to homebrew in.
It is part of WotC and DDB's licensing agreement. Once WotC declares playtest content is no longer active (because it was either published or abandoned), then DDB has to remove it.
There has only been one exception to my knowledge, and that was some of the original Wayfinder's Guide to Eberron races, as there was some community backlash to the Last War changes. There are other threads for more details of that though.
