im building a tabaxi monk. adding in a custom attack as a melee attack. when i click affected by martial arts it amends the modifier from strenth to dex. but it dose not change the attack die from what iv set to my martial arts dice.

You set it as 2d4. Your unarmed strike is only 1d6. It could be because you need to designate the attack as an Unarmed Strike, but more than likely it’s because 2d4>1d6. If the system converted it for you it would do less damage. Technically, 2d4 is considered almost equivalent to 1d10 (the average for both is 5), so the system won’t apply your Martial Arts until you hit 17th-level when your MA die increases to a d10.

i think i worked it out tbh. because i had it set to two d4 insted of one it wasnt allowing the change to take effect.

 Not until you hit level 17, as I already explained.

level dosnt have anything to do with it. just the fact i had it set to two. martial artist only takes effect ont he die if there is only one rolling NOT two

as well as that martial arts diece change at level 5 it increases to d6, lv 11 it increases to d8, and then at 17 finaly d10
