I'd like to revist this please! I am brand new to D&D Beyond. I have a full subscription and my newest player cannot claim her only character but I, the GM, can claim it.
We've fixed it, but I'm not sure what did it. I turned Sharing off, logged out then back in, turned sharing back on. We both refreshed our pages several times and eventually it was claimable. This seems like a browser cache problem? Thanks for your reply though.

Hello everyone,
I've created characters for a one shot. A player in the same campaign does not get the option to claim the character.
I can see the option, but he can't. He unassigned his normal character and refreshed the page, but both didn't work.
Why can't he claim the character while I can?
Thanks for reading
Does the user already have six characters?

That could be possible, thanks. I'll ask him.
The player had less than 6 characters. Claiming worked after waiting some time, don't know why. Thanks anyway for the reply.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Has that player already hit their character limit?
