I'm having an issue with one of my player's characters not showing up in the character list when clicking on the campaign name (in the upper right on a desktop) while on a character sheet. The character is definitely in the campaign, as she shows up as a fourth character on the "my campaigns" page and on the campaign page itself. But she does not show up on the quick switch list.
When I'm on her character sheet and click the campaign name, I can see the other three characters, but if I switch to one of the other characters, and click the campaign name, hers does not show up on the list. Any ideas? They all four joined the campaign from the same link I sent in one email.
Then you'll also need to update the character's data cache by clicking the inspiration box twice, then reloading the page. Do this for her character first, and then you may need to do it for the other characters in order to have them show her character.

Followed these steps as well as clearing local cache and checked on multiple computers. This has to be on D&D Beyond database side. It behaves the same in all places.

Are you running any ad/popup blockers, browser extensions, or a VPN that may be interfering with DDB?

I have several browser extensions, none of which I'm willing to remove nor should they be interfering with data coming into this particular element. Each of the five characters in the particular campaign in which I'm seeing this behavior shows different lists.
One shows a list of only four characters, one that is not even attached to the campaign any longer and another whose name has been changed but isn't reflected.
One shows five characters, but one is the one that doesn't even belong to the campaign anymore and the latest created one is missing.
One shows six characters, two by the same player, one of which he deleted.
Two show what is expected, so this is clearly not my browser extensions.
I'm having this issue too. I've done all of the steps listed above as well as removing and re-adding characters. One of the characters is missing 2 people on the campaign drop down, but has a character that I've removed from the campaign. Again, I've cleared cache and cookies, signed out and back in, removed and re-added characters, everything. As Lehnbor stated, this has to be on DDB's side. I've also disabled all of my extensions and tried everything again. No luck.
Okay, through some experimenting, I found out that the only characters that show up on the dropdown list are ones that were already in the campaign when you activated the character. I deactivated everyone, logged out, cleared my cache, logged back in, activated everyone, then went one by one and deactivated and reactivated them. This is definitely something wrong with the code. New members aren't getting added to the existing member's list.
You may need to "refresh" each and every character's data cache by either bumping them up a level and back down, or clicking the Inspiration box twice and then reloading the page. If any of the characters still don't show the full correct list, you may need to "refresh" them again (possibly all of them) until it takes. Do this instead of Deactivating/Activating.

Again, I did everything you said and it didn't work. What I did with deactivating/activating DID work.
Oh, it did? Sorry, your words gave me the impression that deactivate/activate didn't solve the problem for you. Thanks for confirming that, I'll keep it in mind to suggest in the future.
Anyway, yes it's on DDB's side, but the whole "data cache" thing was meant to reduce the amount of database calls for details that don't change as often.

I apologize, looking back at my comment, it isn't clear that it worked for me. But yeah, that's what I noticed. When I reactivated characters, the only ones on their list were characters that were already in the campaign. So the first one I reactivated didn't have anyone on the list. The second one just had the first person on the list, etc. That's why I had the idea of then deactivating and reactivating them one at a time, and it worked.
Thank you for this tip!! I ran into this issue recently when I was running an encounter and utilizing the encounter tool on DnD Beyond. it really through me off my DM game and tracking initiative. It happened again so I looked up the issue and found your comment, I only wish I had looked it up sooner!!
I agree, it's something with their code. Same browser. One character per tab. 5 characters. 3 showed all the characters. One of the original characters is the one not showing up. The refreshing approach got one of the 2 not showing all characters to work. Now only one is not showing all the characters. It shows the newest character added but not an original one. All are set to campaign and even tried setting to public. Still not showing all the other characters only for one of the characters.

Her character privacy might be set to Private.

A good thought. I checked and it was set to private, but I changed it and still the same issue. Even after refreshing and closing the whole browser.

Found this 5 years later and it still works! Thanks!
