It has been 18 hours since I made changes to a homebrew feat. it still has not updated on any character sheet.
3 sheets should show the changes. checked multiple devices. web and app.
apparently, if i add it to a character that did not previously have the feat, the changes are evident. but on character that did already have it, the changes do not show. this makes it infuriating.
not to mention how i can't tell why i dont see the changes. did i make some mistake? must i go back and keep tinkering and changing values until the changes show? or was it right the first time, and it is simply the servers at fault? who knows? when making or editing a homebrew, it often requires some tweaking to get it all working just right. it should take moments to make a change, and check the result. but with these slow server updates, it takes hours and hours. and all the while, you don't really know if it's updating or not. Ctrl-F5 does not work either.
This is not new. This has been a persistent problem for years. is it local? it would not seem to be. Is it the servers? or is it the way they update character sheets after homebrew has been changed? This sort of thing should be virtually instant. This is absurd. It does not instill user confidence in this paid service.
Okay, thank you. I had assumed that, based on the evidence from the sheets that did not previously have it.
However, that's a very sloppy, brute force workaround. What if the feat is complicated? if it has multiple options? interacts with stats? Has expended charges? What if I'm just afraid of what might get messed up on the sheet by removing some key component? Is there another way to force the page to refresh the info?
That should not be like that. Updates should just update. And it is not just feats. Most homebrew is like this. Feats may be worse, for some reason. This is a problem that DDB needs to fix.
I think that changing a choice can also cause it to update, if you're concerned about a feat with a bunch of choices you don't want to wipe out. (Haven't tested that recently.)

I appreciate the suggestion. That extraordinarily brute force workaround has been suggested before, for similar matters. Please see how that is not a true resolution to this issue. It wouldnt work at 20th level. And it's just further messing with the sheet in ways that should not be necessary. Thank you for trying. Perhaps there are not any good ways for users to fix this, at this time. Really, DDB needs to fix it.
IF the feat has charges, using some does seem to force a re-check (not sure if it always works, or if it must be in conjunction with other sheet changes.) But that won't work on most feats or other homebrew Items, spells, etc.
Clicking the Inspiration box twice on the character sheet and reloading the page will force a data recache like how adding/removing level would, if you have a level 20 character and don't want to chance anything.

Delete the feat from the character. Re-add the feat. (Most other homebrew types will switch over with time, but Feats are funky in this regard.)

Adding and removing a character level should also do it, just make sure to write down the character’s XP first.

I have tried the DM Inspiration toggle many times. This fix does not seem to work.
Okay, which means with changes to homebrew Feats you need to actually change something within the Feat's selections or else Delete & Re-Add.
I'm not excusing the wonkiness of it, just trying to offer workarounds that work.
