I have two charect6ers in my DND Beyond profile and yesterday we leveled up in our campaign (yeah!).
I updated one of the profiles to the new level and made a few other changes such as updated the gp amount and created a PDF, downloaded it and all was well.
But for the second character, I changed the level in the profile and in addition made a few other changes - one of which being the gp amount. I created the PDF and downloaded it. While most of the level related changes did appear, some didn't and none of the other changes appear on the PDF.
For example, in the equipment page in the character builder the currency shows the updated gp amount of 135gp:
But the in the PDF of the character sheet it shows the previous value of 35gp:
Other settings that did not get applied were a change in AC - and in this case the 'new' AC was down compared with the previous AC when it should have gone up. also, none of the weapons and cantrips appear on the Character sheet marked in the builder as in use.
My first reaction to your post was that the question I posted in the forum was posted about 20 hours after I had made the changes to the character and the images I had included in the post were taken the day I posted the question - again over 20 hours after I had changed the settings - well past the 20-minute wait time suggested.
But before typing this response I went back to the Character builder moments ago and generated a new PDF. Low and behold most of the changes are now appearing - the gp amount is correct, and the weapons are appearing correctly.
The PDF is still not 100% accurate though.
The group found a Ring of Protection and we decided to give it to this character. I added it to the character's equipment and marked it as "InUse":
After a careful analysis of the character sheet PDF, it is clear that the benefits of the ring of protection are not being applied
Also, the images you’re posting aren’t visible. You’re probably using Google to host them, but they will only show for you. You have to host them on a site like www.imgur.com and you need the “Direct Link” that ends in .jpg to post them here.
I was wondering about the images because I can't see them either. I am taking the snips using Microsoft's snipping tool and saving them as .png files. I am adding them to the posts using the "insert/edit" image tool on the D&D Beyond editor.
Not sure why D&D Beyond cannot render a .png file but here is the latest as a .jpg: .
I can't see this one either, so I suspect that the problem is on the D&D Beyond site rather than the image format.
In any case, I am not making this up for the goodness of my health so you might perhaps just believe that what I said was the case.
The Ring of Protection in the profile is marked as "In Use" but the effects are not being reflected on the exported PDF.
The 'insert/edit' image tool doesn't provide image hosting. DND Beyond does not and never has hosted images for posting in forums. You need to load it to a site like imgur as Sposta said, and use the 'insert/edit' tool to provide a link to the image, hosted there.
So that I am clear here, the dndbeyond forum editor offers an option that does not function?
And users are a) supposed to magically know that it does not function and b) know we have to go through hoops to work around this deficiency?
No, it does function, it just doesn’t function the way you thought it does. You have to host the image elsewhere and then they can be displayed here. You just need a “direct link” like this:

Any ideas on how to fix this?

After you make any changes to your character sheet it is best to wait 20 minutes before exporting to PDF to ensure all your changes get picked up.

Anyone have thoughts on that point?
Did you attune your the item?

Interesting.

Wow!?!
IMO someone needs to get their act in gear.
In the meantime, back to my question, does anyone know why the Ring of Protection in the profile is not being applied to the characters PDF sheet?
No, it does function, it just doesn’t function the way you thought it does. You have to host the image elsewhere and then they can be displayed here. You just need a “direct link” like this:
