Monsters from Tome of Foes are showing that I don't own them in the ancounter builder even though I own the book. Specifically looking at the Drow Inquisitor.
@IamSposta. That's actually not the problem. All that does is make sure you can select them.
I can select and add them but I get "To see and search this monster's full stats, unlock the Red Abishai by purchasing Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes on D&D Beyond or purchasing this monster individually."
I own Moredenkainen's Tome of Foes, and can actually look up the monster just fine and see it's statblock via search, but it isn't showing up on the encounter builder. In my case it's the various Abishai that I get the message on.
Dude I’m gonna respectfully ask you stop responding to this problem, with the same advice - over and over.
you have repeatedly been told across several threads that this is just a bug, you are now unfortunately also giving incorrect advice.
we have told you the following:
* it is only to do with mordenkainen’s.
* it is not an account sync issue, as everyone has told you.
* one does not need to enable legacy content in the filter as that’s purely to search the monster, in exactly the same way CR scales work - this is not the problem. The monster displays in a search on the encounter builder. It’s stats do not.
for complete clarity:
* my account is synched
* I set the filter for legacy to yes (despite this not being relevant but I did it purely so I could answer you here)
* I looked at stats for the blue guard drake which is legacy but from volo’s. It displays and works properly.
* I looked at stats for the blue Abishai, which is legacy but from mordenkainen’s, a book I have purchased here and used for years: this gives me the message that I have to purchase the content. The same message I get when I try to open monster stats from the book of many things, which I do not own.
this is NOT user error. This is a persistent bug that is affecting numerous users and it’s been raised here in the hopes a D&D beyond staff member sees it and corrects and to raise awareness to other users experiencing this issue.
You have repeatedly given the same advice which I genuinely appreciate your desire to be helpful, but at this juncture I am genuinely asking you to accept that their is indeed a bug here.
If you want I can show you the exact same screens with it not showing for me, the screen that says I’m fully synched and with the receipt of me buying the legendary bundle back in 2020 which included mord.
I genuinely don’t mind dude. I’m not getting at you man, I appreciate you trying to help people… I’m just saying maybe it’s time to accept this probably is just a bug.
you have however motivated me to go and see what licences I currently have active. I’ll report back what I find.
No, I don’t need to see any of that. I believe you. But the first step is always to do all the basic troubleshooting steps. All I’m doing is helping people get all of that out of the way so that when a mod eventually does get to them, they can skip right to the bug reporting. Savvy?
That’s fair, I could do that. By the same token, they could actually read the forum for themselves too.🤔Just puttin’ that out there.
And what’s wrong with “savvy?” I coulda gone with “capisce,” or “namean,” but it’s been a while since I used savvy, so I figured I’d dust it off. Saright?
I've been having the same issue and I believe I bought Moreankainen's through a bundle. Emailed a ticket to support and they've not been helpful so far, trying to claim it's because I have two accounts (I don't afaik) and doesn't explain why I have access to the content EXCEPT in the encounter builder
Yeh they’re wrong… it’s got nothing to do with two accounts.
(I’ve got one account and have only ever had one account)
it’s purely because when you look at your permissions tab, buying the bundle doesn’t actually unlock each book permission individually. It unlocks a permission called “source bundle”.
said source bundle is still on sale but it no longer includes mordenkainens. So in removing it from the current source bundle, I think they’ve also messed the permission for those of us who bought the bundle before it was removed.

You have to activate Legacy Content in the Advanced Settings.

Which is totally fine but you’ve been involved in this report since the other thread so maybe it would also be mindful to start with:
”this is a known issue, others are having… it’s probably a bug but you can try these steps first:”
so at least that way other users aren’t left trawling the backend of dnd beyond trying to fix something they haven’t broken.
also “savvy?”, Ahoy there Cap’n.
Actually joking aside… I do have question for you.
did you buy the original MToF by itself or did you buy it as part of the sourcebook bundle?
That’s fair, I could do that. By the same token, they could actually read the forum for themselves too.🤔Just puttin’ that out there.

Nothing wrong with it but the only time I’ve heard it said is Cap’n Jack, so I thought we were doing a pirates of the Caribbean thing. :)
anyhoo I have a suspicion what’s wrong with the book and access to it.
Me too, now that you’ve asked me that question.

Yup I’m pretty sure I know what it is.
when they updated the permissions for the bundle with the new books they removed mordenkainens because you no longer get it as part of the bundle.
which has removed partial access to those of us who bought it via the bundle. It will literally just be a tickbox thing on their side.
Thanks for the help.

Funny thing is it's only on the encounter builder. I still have access to the stuff in other areas.
