The Spider staff item description says that it be can be wielded as a quarterstaff. I am pretty sure you can use it as your pact/hex weapon. Yet the option to mark it as a hex/pact weapon is not there. I am not sure if this was left out on accident or if I am incorrect about spider staff being hex/pact weapon.
Spider Staff can be wielded as a quarterstaff. A quarterstaff is not Two-Handed or Heavy. It is Versatile, like a longsword.
The issue here is that it is classified in the system as a "Staff", not a "Quarterstaff". A "Staff" is a spellcasting focus that is not considered a weapon. The issue here is that the item description gives it weapon properties and therefore it should be treated the same as a quarterstaff.
My workaround is to create a homebrew item changing the item's type from "Staff" to "Quarterstaff". This worked for me.

Ok, I missed the part where it said any pact weapon can be a hexblade weapon, so that includes two-handers. Ok apparently Versatile doesn't count as two-handed.
I think I found the issue! The Spider Staff is marked with the item type Staff, not Quarterstaff.

Their workaround is pretty simple too since you can copy items to start off a homebrew item.

Bump
So is this not a bug?
Hexblade feature doesn't work on weapons with the two-handed property. Pact weapon...are you attuned to the weapon? Only thing I can think of there.
I thought you if you picked up Improved Pact Weapon. then you could have a two-handed weapon as your pact weapon?
That lets you use your pact weapon as a spellcasting focus. Hexblade still has the 2-handed restriction.

Awesome! I will do that!
