Can another USER share content to my profile and then can I access it across all of my six free characters OR does the USER have to use 6 of their campaign character slots? Not sure that's clear? If a friend has a Master Tier Subscription BUT also 3 full and they wish to share their unlocked content with me - and I need digital access to the $150 dollars of paper I already have on my desk - can they still share it with me, or are full so unable?
Seems like there should be a one time use code (like DLC for video games) when we buy these books to allow us access to the digital content I already own. I get the business model and all but not sure I want to purchase a digital version of the books (that again, I already own) just to add arch-types and basic info as such?

A user with the master tier subscription can enable content sharing on up to 3 campaigns. No more.
When a campaign has content sharing enabled, every user that has a character in that campaign can access all of the content of every other user that has a character in the campaign. You can look at every book, spell, race, subrace, trait, background, magic item, and monster that's shared. However, the character builder will only use your own content unless the character is in a campaign that has content sharing. If you want 6 of your characters to use content you don't own then you have to get all 6 into campaigns that have content sharing enabled. If you just want to use content you already own in paper form, you can digitize it yourself as private homebrew.

That's not possible, for reasons that have been beaten to death in various threads. I'm sure you can find them if you look around the General Discussion and Bugs & Feedback forums.
homebrew sounds like an option and while that works for reviewing content my issue is that as I build characters I cannot add specific archetypes, so the DnD Beyond char. sheets don't reflect the abilities correctly and so it cumbersome and time consuming.
that said - I just started using it - so I'm sure I could build "home-brew" content that mirrors the abilities of say an eldeitch knight but frankly - my own resources I already have do that and I don't have to re-invent the wheel.
ill look up the threads about reasons against digital codes but FWIW - Marvel and many magazines offer the digital content free with print purchase - so sounds like it's a choice vs. a possibility.
Anyway - Thanks for the sharing info though and the quick response. Unfortunately while the interface looks pretty it looks like a dead-end for what I needed - which sadly was basic players handbook character creation.
Note that you don't have to buy the entire PHB if you don't need it. If your current needs are just an eldritch knight, you can just buy that subclass, assuming you don't want to take the time to homebrew it. That said, only you can decide if the features here are worth the cost (in money and/or time) for you. No harm, no foul if you decide they are not.

Just to be clear, if D&D Beyond was a product of WotC, then it would be a choice not to provide digital content for free. But D&D Beyond belongs to a completely different company and they got a license to sell digital D&D books, just like Amazon, or you FLGS, have the rights to sell hardcopies of D&D books.
Like I said - new to the program, so not sure what "a la carte" options are out there!
Arwen's Daughter - Thank you for the ideas!
DanyBallon - Yeah - I can see how not being a product of WoTC could cause issues for the company trying to make a buck! Fair enough and thank you for keeping me from having to search through endless posts!

You can buy individual races, subraces, subclasses, backgrounds, feats, spells, and magic items, or packs that include every race, subrace, etc in any given book. Any money you spend on part of the book reduces the price of buying the entire book (and the Legendary Bundle) accordingly. Check out different books in the D&D Beyond Marketplace and you'll see what the options are.
You can take a mix-and-match approach of creating private homebrew for things that are easy to copy (like spells or feats) and buying the other things you need individually.

I already read another thread so based on the "resolved" post -
