As it looks like this function is not working where do I find the tools or training to duplicate adding the Heavy Armor Master feat abilities to a suit of plate. Especially the 3 HP reduction in none magical slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning damage. Thanks.
It is entirely possible to add an official feat to a magic item. We cannot ad any homebrewed feats to a magic items.
So I have added the official feat Heavy Armor Master to my homebrew item Plate Mail but the strength +1 doesn't apply. By adding an official feat, does it require the item to be "attuned" for it to apply to the character? The homebrew items did not have that designation. Thanks for the response.

Maybe. The only items I have ever created with attached feats all required attunement by design. Feats being so powerful in general, such items seemed appropriate requiring attunement. I Have also apparently not tried it with any “half feats” that grant an ASI bonus.
Try it with attunement and see if that works.
Don’t forget that after you add something to a homebrew, like a feat, spell, or modifier, you MUST re-save the entire ‘brew using the main [SAVE CHANGES] button under basic information. Otherwise they system won’t pick up those changes. After that there might be a delay of up to 20 minutes while everything updates across the multiple servers. And after that you might still need to “wake up” your character sheet’s cache by altering it’s level up and back down.
Finally, if none of that works, then just delete the feat add the Str bonus as a regular Modifier. The damage reduction is just plain text anyway.
Trying to include the Healer feat into a homebrew item. The feat can be added to the item with no problem. However, the feat does not appear on the character sheet.
This will never “get fixed.” (In fact it used to work but they made it not work anymore.)
The only way that Modifier works is for a race to add a choice of feat (like variant human). That is all it does because that is all it is designed to do.
It’ll only change if WotC publishes a Magic Item which grants a feat. But feats are “optional rules,” so I doubt that they ever will.
Why add the ability to include a Feat if it does not add it to the character sheet. One can just type in "grants xyz feat". There's no need to make a "modifier type" of feat if the code isn't going to use it. DNDB can make their character sheets act however they'd like.
BUMP! Been 3 years, would be GREAT to see this fixed.
While at it, make it so Homebrew Feats show up in the pick list for Homebrew Magic Items (just like Homebrew Spells do). Why the asymmetry?
Also, Elven Accuracy does not show up for a Homebrew Magic item modifier. It should. Simply don't actually add it to the sheet when equipped/attuned if they aren't an elfkin. You know what races those are, you have a setting for it. It works correctly elsewhere.
Resurrecting this solely to say: 2024 and i have only just come across this issue, which still persists. I've only used DnD beyond for 6 months and I find it embarrassing how many issues like this have persisted for so long.

December 2021 - Still not working, is this still on the radar to get fixed?

Agreed, why have the ability to add a feat to a homebrew item if it won't in turn add it to the character while equipped or attuned as appropriate?
Bump. Tried making a item with a feat attached. I can add the homebrew modifier and choose the feat but still does not add once equipped/attuned.
I'm aware of the work around with Manage Feats sheet option. It would just be nice if it worked with the equipping/attuning to the item.
