Ever since the update that added shared dice, Maps has been slow to the point of being unusable. The page takes a long time to fully load, and any action I try (panning, switching tools, opening dice or game log, switching maps, etc) takes 10 seconds or more to complete. The slowdown is worst in Firefox on my laptop. It isn't nearly as bad in Edge, although it is still noticeably slower than before the shared dice update. I have tested with Firefox on two other computers. One of them had the same issue and one of them did not. When Maps is open, I observe Firefox using fair amounts of memory and GPU but it is not maxing out any of my laptop's resources. Firefox's own task manager shows large spikes of GPU usage when performing actions in Maps, spiking all the way to 100% usage. Firefox is set to use hardware acceleration but isn't set to use my dedicated GPU. I am using Windows 11, the latest version of Firefox (148) and my laptop has a good CPU, GPU, and 16 GB of memory.
I also use Firefox. It was so laggy I couldn’t use it this last Saturday to DM my game night. I use a laptop to display the spectator map on a tv. I had to resort to paper maps. I can’t afford to have that happen when all my maps are digital. So, gonna look into using a different VTT.
I can say that after the fixes put in place today, things have improved a bit. I'm now able to load Maps in Firefox in a normal amount of time and it doesn't constantly lag and stutter. Rolling 3D dice does cause immediate slowdown, and for some reason leaving the tab for awhile makes it super slow when I return.
We attempted to play again today and as reported by the OP, maps was completely unusable in Firefox with the new dice rolling feature. It would be ideal for the DM to have a checkbox in map settings to allow for digital dice to be turned off for those who prefer it that way. We would rather just use the game log at our table to share that kind of information.

You can just have everyone in your game turn of 3d dice.

Which is a short term fix but why should we have to turn off a feature that some of us have spent money on (different dice sets) when it used to work fine?

I'm running into this same problem and haven't found any solution yet.
Rolling dice since the last update is unbearably slow on my iPad.
