i noticed that the drop downs for rogue proficiencies do not have the expected lists. Intimidation is missing, as an example,
When creating a first level half-orc rogue, I was given three expertise options.
In addition to those defects, I have a request to be able to select which stat I use for a weapon. My half-orc rogue has a higher STR than DEX. So his dagger attack defaulted to use STR bonus. But to get sneak attack bonus dice, I think I need to use it as a finesse weapon, I'd also like to see attack related features appear in the attacks section
I had a similar issue with no drop down menu showing up for the expertise skill, so I was not able to select the two skills and have it reflected on the character sheet.
The Rogue Expertise class feature should allow you to pick from any of your skill proficiencies (such as those gained via Background), not just those skill proficiencies gained via the Rogue class.
For confirmation, is this forum the official method to report bugs? I've looked around the site but I might have missed where it gives instructions on the official method.
Hi Arravis, I reported this issue in the mega thread a few days ago so between there and here the devs will have seen it.
What I noticed is that the Rogue's Expertise as currently implemented will consider any skill proficiency regardless of source as long as the skill appears on the list of Rogue skills. So if you took the Soldier background you would currently see 6 skills listed in the Expertise menus (4 from class plus Athletics and Intimidation because they are Rogue skills). However, if you take the Folk Hero background you will only see 4 skills because Animal Handling and Survival are not Rogue skills.
As you mention, you should be able to pick any skill you are proficient in for Expertise. The Bard also has an Expertise class feature and this works as you would expect the Rogue's Expertise feature to (probably because any skill is a Bard skill).
Also noticed that the Rogue's Expertise does not include drop-down lists if you multiclass into Rogue. Multiclassing into Bard for Expertise works fine.
That's what I thought, I just wanted a confirmation. I've made a character that's an advisor to arcanists, wizards, etc., but he doesn't cast spells himself. The rogue class + sage background allowed me to maximize his Arcana skill efficiently.
Anyway, hopefully it's something that'll get fixed soon.
Can't access rouge class feature when multi classing in at 1st level this is a unlisted class feature not a proficiencies and there for is unaffected by multiclassing. As per pg 163, 164 & 165 of the PHB
It should as their is no mention of it not in the multi class rules.
Also I get a 3rd expertise choice with a 1/2elf rouge.

Even if you use STR on a finesse weapon like a dagger, you'll still get your sneak attack bonus. The weapon just needs to have the property.

Oh?! Cool. This's good to know.
So. Is therea valid choice where a player may want to give up one stat for abother stat while using a weappn?
Only thing I can think of is role play reasons off the top of my head.

Yes you did right.
A more active thread to report bugs is this: http://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/beta-testing-feedback/3649-mega-thread-focused-feedback-character-builder
But the devs are working on the bug you reported. Check for some updates here (usually they report the updates once a week).

They're working on it.
