So I'm a noob - preparing for my first D&D game in the coming weeks (very excited). Our DM has sent me a link to my character (as they've prepared characters for us players to save us some time and hassle for our first game), but I've been trying to load it at various times today and with various devices with the link below and keep getting the same error message:
"Whoops! We rolled a 1 on our Retrieve Character check. We're heading into town to visit the blacksmith for repairs.
Try again after a Short Rest."
Our DM has set the characters to public for sharing, and some of the people I'll be playing with can see their characters, but still can't get access to mine.
Anybody know a fix for this? I would be greatly appreciative. The troublesome link to my character, is below:
1. Your DM should click the UNASSIGN button on each of the characters in the campaign that they created.
2. Each player should use the "join campaign" link that the DM has to join the campaign. On doing so, there will be the option to CLAIM an unassigned character. Do that and the character is now your character and you can view it, edit is as you like.
The DM can still view and edit the characters in the campaign, even though they now belong to the players.
Helloo there all!

All the best,

The intended way to manage this is:

I hope this helps!

If you need help with homebrew, please post on the homebrew forums, where multiple staff and moderators can read your post and help you!
"We got this, no problem! I'll take the twenty on the left - you guys handle the one on the right!"🔊
I get the same error you do. Ask the DM to recheck the public/private setting. Also ask if there is any homebrew on the character.

Ah cool thank you very much Stormknight.
I've linked my DM to the tread and he's going to have a go at sorting it.
ArwensDaughter - yeah, checked that earlier but doesn't seem to be the issue, thank you for your reply though!
