So I know that subraces are still listed individually and not under the homebrew parent race, which is annoying, but whatever.
What I find even worse is, that when I choose my homebrew subrace in character creation, it doesn't have the features of the parent race. My parent race has either +2 to STR or CON, or +1 to each. The subrace adds a +1 to either CHA or DEX. When I choose the subrace in the character builder, it shows the features of the parent race in the description, but I am unable to choose ability score increases for STR or CON.
My character in the end does not have the ability score increase of the parent race, nor the description, although at least the description was present when I chose the subrace.
Am I missing anything? Under the parent race, the subrace is listed under subraces. Under the subrace, the parent race is marked as parent race. Why doesn't it work in the character builder.
The only immediate solution that comes to mind for me (and therefore my players) is to create a separate race for each subrace, including all traits of former parent and subrace, which is tedious and clutters the race screen.
Please post a link to the race, subrace, and character in question so a moderator can take a look. The homebrew doesn’t need to be published for a moderator to look at it.
It looks like you have some features of your base race set as "Hide in Builder", like the ability score improvement. You'll need to uncheck that option so that the ability to choose which score becomes available in the character builder race page. Hope that helps!
would there happen to be a fix for this if my parent race's features aren't actually hidden in the builder, yet do not get added to the character? is this just how homebrew races are bugged currently?

Post a link to you character and another to your homebrew. Even if your homebrew is unpublished a Mod can look at it for you.

This is an example character using the race/subrace, not getting the ASI from the race, only subrace.
This is the race.
