It appears that Merfolk as a language is missing from the options when you have the Ravnics source book content on. The book itself details that Merfolk is a unique language on Ravnica (page 9). Am I missing somehting or is this actually missing from D&D Beyond?
Can you confirm where in the book this is - my version is digital and has no page numbers, so can you specify which chapter/section please?
Also, does this specifically say this is an option players can choose? There are a lot of languages in D&D but players may only choose a small section of them.

It's an odd one, as I just had a look and it's not a language that is spoken by Merfolk, according to the official statblocks (SRD, Monster Manual, & Ghosts of Saltmarsh):
Yeah, I was thinking the Aquan route as well since that is a more general D&D underwater language. It seems like "Merfolk" as a language may be unique to Ravnica and takes the place of Aquan there, but it's a little odd that the source book wouldn't make some connection between that and Aquan if that's what it's supposed to be.
Thanks for your help on this!

I can't find this in GGtR.

It's mentioned in the table on languages in the introduction:

It's an odd one, as I just had a look and it's not a language that is spoken by Merfolk, according to the official statblocks (SRD, Monster Manual, & Ghosts of Saltmarsh):
Merfolk - Merfolk Salvager - Merfolk Scout.
Merfolk officially speak Aquan and Common.
However that table in the Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica sourcebook claims otherwise.
I recommend that if your character wishes to be able to converse with Merfolk, that they select Aquan, though most Merfolk know common anyway.
