I'm seeing serious back-end delays with the homebrew editor.
Use case: I created a feat that added (among other things) a +1/level HP bonus. I applied it to a character; it worked fine, showing a +1 HP bonus at 1st level. I decided to change the bonus to a flat +2, so I removed the feat from the character, edited the feat, saved it, reloaded the character sheet, and reapplied the feat to the character.
Expected behavior: Adding the edited feat to the character should immediately have resulted in +2 bonus HP.
Observed behavior: Adding the edited feat to the character still resulted in +1 HP.
Attempted troubleshooting:
Reloaded character sheet -- didn't resolve.
Reloaded my Homebrew Collection -- didn't resolve.
Logged into DDB from incognito window -- didn't resolve.
Removed the feat from the character and re-added it -- didn't resolve.
Created a copy of the character -- didn't resolve.
Removed the feat from the character, deleted the feat from my Homebrew Collection, and reloaded the character sheet -- didn't resolve, and the feat was still selectable under Manage Feats in the character sheet.
Waited 15+ minutes -- resolved, in the sense that the feat finally disappeared as a selectable option under Manage Feats.
This issue is reproducible. After deleting the original feat, I created a new one; added it to a character; removed, edited, and saved it; reapplied it to the character; and the changes didn't take. I deleted the new feat from my Homebrew Collection, and yet it is still showing up under Manage Feats 10+ minutes later.
Actually, I'm seeing some slowness in the Character Builder, too. Attempting to change character names is sporadically not working -- upon switching to character sheet, the name just reverts back.
They are doing system maintenance for both the new character sheet frameworks that just came out recently, and the upcoming updates to the builder system (the homebrew system we use is the same system, we just don’t have admin privileges) so they can finally implement all of those fixes we keep asking for. I imagine a little lag is inevitable. When it’s all done we will have better systems all around.
Hello, I created a homebrew race and am having an issue with caching or something. Here are the steps I took to get an issue: Create a race with some basic information filled out, then add a single racial trait. Whatever you put here won't matter, so just fill in the fields. Save the page, then go create a character with your new race. Once on the race page you'll see your trait. Once you create the character, go edit your race in the homebrew interface and add another trait, again don't worry about what's in it. Save the trait, and then go edit your character. If you go to the race tab, it won't show you the new trait you added, it's still just the first trait. I have found if i change my race to something else, clear my cache, and then wait like 30 minutes it will update this page.
Also while I'm filing a bug, I've noticed if you create a magic item and attach it to a character, then you change the name of the magic item, it won't update on your character. you have to remove it and clear your cache.

Hello Slaschnikoff, thank you for your post. It takes a bit of time (15 minutes or so) for updates to your homebrew content to become available on your character. The team is aware that this is not ideal. We appreciate your feedback!
I think I’m having similar problems, albeit much later. I created a Homebrew subclass, and I edited it several times. It shows the edited version in my Homebrew collection, but when it’s used in the character creator it uses the original. I’ve removed it from the character, put it back on, removed it again, removed the entire class, closed the browser, everything I know to do to get it to catch up, but no luck. It doesn’t even have the same features and descriptions as the updated version. It’s been several hours.
The telegraph was more efficient and consistent than your homebrew update process is, D&D Beyond. That isn't an exaggeration. I'm sorry to be so harsh, but why are you hamstringing your service like this? Is it meant as a way to discourage people from making their own game elements so they're more likely to buy material through you?
Please up this cache frequency for this. 15 minutes feels way too long for changes to reflect on your players' character sheet. Especially during combat where every minute is crucial.

Thank you for the reply! Do you also need to clear your cache, or am i just being overly cautious?
You should not need to clear your cache, it'll just take a bit of time on our system's end. Thanks for checking! <3
