I'm getting the page not found error message today when adding the /json URL suffix to export a character. Can someone else either confirm the same issue, or alert the support folks?
As part of an update a few days ago (you can see the changelog with a more thorough explanation here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/changelog/827-character-sheet-changelog-early-june-updates) many of the endpoints used by the old character sheets have been decommissioned. The devs are still planning to make a public API at some point in the future but there's no ETA yet.
Thanks for replying so quickly. I'm trying to export characters to Foundry VTT for an upcoming game. Any other way to do that until the API is updated?

Update your VTTA module in Foundry VTT - it has a new way to bring in the characters.
Hey, not to be a bother, but I've seen threads going back several years regarding this issue and Beyond still hasn't implemented these ideas yet? There has to be some kind of time table for when this is planned to be accomplished 2+ years later
Vote with your $. I intend to. It is a damn shame that these companies can't find a way to work together. A marriage between roll20 and dndbeyond would be so awesome. Instead they are two separate stovepipes with separate content purchasing for each.

They’ve been busy implementing other ideas and features. They anticipate making some major revamps of systems that will change APIs. They want to wait until those are stable before relapsing public APIs. In the meantime, there are several extensions that facilitate connecting DDB with svarious VTT services.

Can confirm, seeing the same here as well as on my roommate's PC.
Hey there -

For what it's worth, just want to add in that data endpoint is one thing that makes dndb awesome.
I hope "but there's no ETA yet" doesnt mean "we dont think it's important"... So many people use dndb to back up their VTT experience.
Removing the JSON link is going to complicate running games online for me, I created a thread and a poll. Go make some noise and maybe they'll bring it back. https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/d-d-beyond-feedback/71327-json-data-no-longer-available
I did some digging...... looks like the new url is:
https://character-service.dndbeyond.com/character/v3/character/xxxxxxxx
where xxxxxxxx Is the same numbers from the end of the normal character sheet URL.
As always, please be aware that the JSON data at that URL is not intended as a public API.
The data structure and route may, and probably will, be changed as and when is needed as part of developing additional features for D&D Beyond.

It appears that this new way of of accessing won't work for importing into R20? It's a shame that we can't get along for the sake of players.
you have to use the new version
New version of what? A new script or a new /json page? I tried the new /json link... it didn't work. I'm unaware of a new script.
I used the data from here: https://character-service.dndbeyond.com/character/v3/character/xxxxxxxx
idk, I noticed in some thread you have to get the latest script from github.
