So my homebrew subclass has a class feature that grants something at 3rd level, and improves on that at 10th level:
Seeker of Truth. By 3rd level, you have honed your ability to detect lies. When you make a Wisdom (Insight) check to determine if someone is being truthful to you, you may roll with advantage. You also gain proficiency with the Insight skill, if you did not already have it.
By 10th level, you have fine tuned your ability to detect lies among the many races in the world. You now have expertise in the Insight skill.
My question(s) are: How can I "code" the current homebrew feature to automatically apply the expertise at level 10? I currently have it as a separate feature at level 10 that just grants the expertise to Insight. Is the way I've done it, the only way?

There are other ways to do it, but that is the most efficient way to do it.
We can not alter base class features at this time. We can however add actions to class features with “limited uses” (the little checkboxes on the sheet) that can basically simulate it. Just make an action with a single limited use on a Long Rest that says “You can use your Channel Divinity one additional time per Long Rest.”

Thanks for the quick response.
Another question for anyone able to answer it: Is it possible to override the base Paladin's number of Channel Divinities so that I can give it 2?
