Heavy Armor Master is no longer available for me to choose from the feat list in the character sheet, though it was there just a few months ago. I chose Heavy Armor Master at Level 4 when I earned the Ability Score Improvement and chose the optional feats rule instead. Heavy Armor Master was available then.
However, after recently leveling up and checking to see what came with my new level, I noticed the Ability Score Improvement on the Class tab of the Character Builder was saying I hadn't picked an option. When I clicked into it to pick HAM again, HAM wasn't available.
As a Paladin, I believe my character has the prerequisite for this feat, namely proficient with heavy armor. I also own the Player's Handbook through D&D Beyond.
If it gives you the option to re-sync them then do that. If not, try logging out and back in to trigger the server to clear its internal cache and then wait 20 minutes for the character sheet to catch up and check it again.
What IamSposta said should hopefully do the trick.
This may also be a fix but can't 100% guarantee it will work - if all your other feats you have are there, make sure you have the Strength (13/15 depending on the item) to use Heavy Armor.
I was creating a new character a long time ago and found that I couldn't add the Skulker, Defensive Dualist, Grappler and Inspiring Leader feats, only to find that you need to have the correct Ability Score before the option becomes available. In that instance, I was creating a Variant Human and the option to choose the feat comes before the Ability Score assignment when creating a character.

Does the character already have the feat? Please post a link to the character so somebody can look at it for you.
Holy crap. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
So, what I was seeing was in the edit character screen where it was saying I still needed to either pick a feat or the ability score improvement. I knew I had already picked HAM, so I went to pick it again and it wasn't there. I didn't bother to look at the main page of my character sheet to see if HAM was listed. And it is.
I guess this is me as a D&D noob not understanding the rules ... I don't know why I would get to pick two feats at this point (Level 7 Paladin)?
In any case, thank you so much for helping me see the obvious. Feel kinda dumb now.

If you are a human variant, you get a feat at level 1 and can choose another at level 4. Alternatively, you may have selected the first one through manage feats instead of through the ASI wizard. Because some DMs allow for a free feat at level 1, as some kind of boon, or similar reason, you can add feats independently of the ASI wizard.
The feat may have been added in another way. On the character sheet, go to “features & traits”->feats->Manage Feats and see if the feat was added directly to the character sheet somehow.

That's exactly what I did. When I knew I got a feat at level 4 I used the manage feats feature. That makes sense.

I am in sync and logging out/back in didn't help. Thanks for the help, though.
Thanks for responding. I am definitely strong enough to wear the armor I have, though that is something good to keep in mind in the future.
