A player in one of my campaigns is creating a fallen aasimar death domain cleric, and a random domain 'spell' (which doesn't appear to be a proper spell) is being added to their sheet - 'awaken dead'. Looks like someone might have accidentally updated the reference entries for that sub-class with some test data?
I don't have that on my cleric. Click on the spell and look at it in the sidebar. In the section that lists casting time, range, components, etc, does it have a line that says 'Source,' or does it have a line that says 'Version.' If it says Version, then it's homebrew, and you'll want to ask other campaign members if one of them made it. In the unlikely occurrence that it says 'Source,' please report back what source it says it's from.
Nothing so easy unfortunately! It has neither Source nor Version! Will try and attach a couple bits of screen shot later - not able to add them from my iPad.
If it has the “version” field at all, even without any version designation it is still a homebrew.
Most likely what happened is someone in the campaign has that homebrewed spell in their collection. If that spell has the Death Domain listed as spell list upon which it should appear, then it will automatically happen for every PC (with homebrew enabled) of that subclass in every campaign that player is in. If that player removes it from their collection that should fix it.
The other possibility is a glitch that occasionally attaches some homebrewed spells to subclasses they don’t belong, even if homebrew is not enabled for that PC. It’s rare, but it does occasionally happen. They put out a fix for that a while ago though, so it is far less likely anymore, but still possible.
And Content Sharing is not required for homebrew material. So even if Content Sharing were not enabled, everybody’s homebrews would still automatically get shared with everyone else in the campaign.
Okay, source of the ‘dodgy’ spell found, thanks all.
As a DM though, I’m not happy with how homebrew is shared like this within a campaign - i.e. that a flagged spell like that shows up on someone else’s character sheet regardless... Anyone know the best route to flag this as a more generic issue that needs a more elegant solution?
A Moderator will probably flag this thread sooner or later. It’s a known thing that they are supposedly looking into.
In the meantime, tell whoever it is with that homebrew in their collection to remove it. They don’t have to delete it, just remove it from their collection so it won’t populate the builder. Stuff can get removed and added back at will so it can be there whenever they need it, and just not the rest of the time.

It’s not something they’ve manually added..

I though ‘content sharing’ was just DM -> Players, not Players -> Players?
Nope. It’s “everyone (including players)->everyone (including DM)”
And Content Sharing is not required for homebrew material. So even if Content Sharing were not enabled, everybody’s homebrews would still automatically get shared with everyone else in the campaign.
