For everyone wanting this to be fixed, they do have it marked as "Planned" on their feature request site here: https://dndbeyond.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360020657154-Create-homebrew-magic-ammunition. I would imagine that adding votes to this topic would increase the priority and might help get this fixed sooner. Although, you'll have to create a separate account for their support site in order to do so.
Yes, on their roadmap, they do have a homebrew revamp listed in the far future. I would imagine once they do that, this should no longer be an issue. Also note that D&D Beyond never gives exact dates. So this issue could be fixed 5 years from now or 20 years from now (who knows...).
I'm too lazy to look up where I saw it, but I believe they've decided this isn't a bug and is instead a requested feature. So don't expect this any time soon.
Bumping because this seems like a pretty glaring oversight. The fact that you can't even create ammunition using actual, in game items as a template seems way more like a bug to me than it does a new feature.
what's even weirder is you can kinda create it in the character sheet itself when selecting custom item..****y it doesn't show up in the homebrew section....
and this is not the only bug that has been here for 2+years.
This page started in 2017 and it is now nearly 2020. They said that the fix is more complicated than it sounds but come on. I don't think I've ever seen a bug like this last so long.
Why is this still an issue DnD Beyond? How about you add Ammunition to weapon types and be done with this stupid error.
You should also be able to add negative modifiers in the "customize" inventory option

I will add a vote via the provided link, but I cannot believe this is still a bug after two years.
Hi!
Just want to call attention to the fact that this is still an issue. I suppose best practice at this point would be to just make this a wondrous item?
Over a year later and this bug still exists? How hard can it be to add ammunition, arrows, bolts, or bullets to the weapon type?
Actually, it's more than 2 years ago.
Bumping this, still an issue
Bump, because 2 years later, ITS STILL A THING!!
Bump... This is STILL an issue. Are there even any developers working on the tool at this point? This is literally a 10 minute fix.
Still waiting on this feature as well. Surprised this has been going on so long.
This issue was opened by another user in the dev support forum to address this issue. It has been marked as "Planned" so they are going to implement it, but I don't know the timeline https://dndbeyond.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360020657154-Create-homebrew-magic-ammunition

Still not fixed, wtf, losing faith in the DnDBeyond creators quickly.
Please fix

there are quite a few "bugs" that have been around for years here
