Homebrew Magic Item grants a feat but the feat is not applied to the character sheet

I made a magic longsword that gives the Martial Adept feat. It is attuned properly but doesn't automatically add the feat. Is this a known bug? is there a workaround?

Magic items can’t add feats like that. It’s just a thing.

Strange that there is a modifier option to add one then. But alright.

This still appears to be true that it doesn't apply the feat. I'd call it a bug.
