I'm trying to make it so that Rope Trick is available at player level 5, but no matter what I do I cannot get it to show up. I've tried making it a class feature inside a class feature
It only ever shows up at 7th level. Here is what I've got inside the spell to grant access
Rope trick is a 2nd-level spells you have “consumes spell slot” set to yes. If that character wants to cast the spell they would need to expend a 2nd-level spell slot. If they are an Arcane Trickster, Eldritch Knight, or some other homebrew subclass with the same spell progresssion, they wouldn’t have any 2nd-level spell slots until 7th level.
Also, you put “counts as known spell” to yes meaning that Rope Trick is also forcibly taking up a known spell slot that they could otherwise use for something else. And you put “always prepared” which you don’t need to because those subclasses don’t prepare spells. You also put “uses by ability modifier” meaning they can use it a number of times per long rest equal to their Int mod, but also made it consume a spell slot too, which is probably confusing the system. Plus, Rope Trick doesn’t gain any benefit from being cast at higher levels, so you also don’t need “cast at level” to have anything. And you also don’t need to put Wizard for the “class” field, that would be if you wanted them to be able to choose a spell from the Wizard list. You can also skip the “casting time,” “activation type,” or “spell range type” either.
Basically get rid of most of the settings, and set “consumes spell slot” and “counts as known” to both be “no,” “ability score” and “uses by Ability Modifier” to both read Int, and leave “reset type” to long rest and you will have told it to let them cast the spell up to Int mod/long rest in addition to their other spells.
