I chose druid for Magic Initiate; no spells are listed on my spell page for my feat. In addition, Shillelagh probably should be reported in the attacks and spellcasting section if spiritual weapon is.
Yes this is why I would like them to add in that folks that gain spellcasting by any means other then being a spell caster those spells being added to the spell casting section of the character sheet as if they were a spell casting class. Even if it is a High Elfs cantrip or whatever.
Just ran into this today: I built a homebrew race that allowed one to choose a feat; I chose Magic Initiate, but there's no way for me to choose spells for it.
Yeah, just ran into this. I just dropped a bunch of money on books I already have in front of me just so I could use the character builder with my kids, and it won't let my daughter select the spells she learned from Magic Initiate. For a paid product this is pretty lousy.
There's no way to override it, either - even for the one spell that shows up (because it's also on her class list) she can't select it because it thinks she's out of open slots.
Just running into this now (and searching for an answer I ran across this thread). Have a cleric (Arcane Domain) and as a variant human chose Magic Initiate (Druid) as a feat, but nowhere does it show up in the basic attacks section.
Not that big of deal, but just have to remember after casting it that everything changes....
Not a bug. Shillelagh is not technically an attack in itself so it will not show up automatically - its a limited duration spell effect which the character sheet will not factor in. in the same way it does not add 3 to AC for mage armor or any other limited duration effect. Likewise "magic weapon" doesnt auto-add +1 to the chosen weapon. These types of spells are thing you need to adjust for yourself as it suits you. You can just create a custom attack if you want or customise existing ones as you need. You may homebrew an weapon to reflect the altered stats and can equip or unequip to determine when shillelagh is active or not. These are up to you to do.
Oh and since the other comments are also about being unable to choose the spells: go to character sheet, features and traits section, select feats then manage feats. You may see Magic Initiate in the list with a blue ! icon, click the down arrown by it and you will be presented with drop down boxes for choosing spells.
