Not yet. We have no ETA for the character sheet revamp, but it should be within this month, in theory (they always said they were aiming for Q1, so...).

I don't know if this would work, but you could maybe make a 2nd character and just name him "Bag of Holding", and just use him to store everything you would normally put in the bag.
Adam kept saying that there were loads and loads of people who asked for the public option of the character sheet to be neutered and yet I only ever saw a couple of people post about it: it was instituted almost immediately. Yet containers and off-character storage, especially in reference to the Bag of Holding, are constantly asked for by tons of people on every social media platform D&D Beyond are on but it's been well over a year since it was first brought up; in fact, I was one of the first things asked for after the first iteration of the character sheet came out.

"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."
It's probably not a big priority over other thngs that are being worked on.
I mean, you have a Personal Items box to add in anything you don't want tallied on the sheet. You can also Customise the item, set weight to 0, and use the note box to indicate weight and location, which does exactly what you want: you see where the item is and it doesn't contribute to weight/encumberence. Either way is easy, taking just seconds.
So, yeah, given you have MULTIPLE ways to achieve what you want and still be more convenient than pen & paper, this is really not a priority. They're a small team working hard on multiple big things, and implementing yet another way to do something you can already do is likely not their concern at this particular time. It's on the roadmap, no need to nag them about it - it won't make anything faster.

Just bought a bag of holding in Adventurer's League and would love to be able to put items into it that don't count against my encumbrance. Hopefully this is still being worked on! :)
A reasonable workaround is to open the item in your inventory, and customise the bag of holding's weight to -135 (150 pounds minus 15 pound bag weight).
Of course this doesn't account for items that aren't in the bag, but it's a reasonable compromise.
I went looking for this as now that my Artificer plans to infuse a bag of holding, create another bag of holding, and attempt to carry a full workshop-load of tools and supplies.... Well, he needs something as well. :)
Is there a way to assign contents to a Bag of Holding? I would like to ensure that items in the bag do not count towards encumbrance..
As far as I know that is not currently possible, but I think it's in the works for the upcoming character sheet overhaul

is this a thing yet?

Are we still waiting on the ability to put items in? It's becoming quite the nuisance, though your suggestion is really good SeanTabasco
Still can't put stuff into my bag of holding? Seems silly you know.

Any word on being able to use the bag of holding?
This would be great
Still not able to use it

Still no option to place an item in the bag of holding?
It makes me sad that the bag of holding is still unusaeable

Would it be easier to increase your carrying capacity by 500 pounds?

Im still very interested in this for all containers

Still no word on this? Have we put this up on their various other feedback settings?
