I just got a quiver of Ehlonna, and was sad to realize I can't use it in Beyond for this same reason. I guess I'll set the weights to 0, but this should definitely be something sooner rather than later. Container's are important!
I don't care for that method because it assumes you're keeping everything in the bag until its full. The solution I'm using is a special list in "Other Possessions" called "Bag of Holding, and anything in the bag I need to reference (like a magic item) I use the "set weight to 0" trick. It's effort, but it works for me.
I guess you still can't use the bag of holding but I have found that the best way to deal with this is just overwrite the weight of whatever item you want in there. It is easy to keep track of since there is a star next to items you customize this way.

I also recommend adding it in the notes field "In Bag of Holding" so you can easily see that the item is in your bag of holding. This can be useful for designating things you own that are in your bag of holding, your Leomund's secret chest, back at your home, hidden somewhere, in your portable hole, on the wagon/cart, etc.

Thanks. For visual people like myself I find it helps to locate/track things at a glance.
I love how it alphabetically sorts your sheet by location. I'll be stealing this idea. It's still a lot of work doing all that customising, but it will do. Thank you.
This is a rather annoying flaw that really needs to be addressed. I see it goes back more than 2 years and still has not been dealt with.
It should be an easy fix to be able to have the items listed as "CONTAINER" actually contain other items. Especially important with these extra dimensional storage bags as they magically reduce the weight carried. But also important for mundane bags and such so if a character loses their pack they and the DM know exactly what was lost with the pack and what the character still has in belt pouches pockets and other containers.
The "Core Rules" CD ROM that had the character creator function in it allowed for this and that was released in 1999... I am 100% sure we did not lose the knowledge of how to do something so simple as this in the last 21 years.
Lets get some action taken on this, Please (with a capital P).
I agree that it would be nice to have it fixed but if you're so sure that "we" didn't lose the knowledge of how to do something, how about you make the code work? I'm sure that you'll be able to get it done quicker than anyone who has been working on it over the last 2 years. I'm not trying to be an butt about this but let's keep things in perspective. I'm sure that they would like to have this fixed just to shut all of us up about it. And posts like yours don't help matters.

priorities man, having things in your equipment be under the "bag of holding setting" is very low on the list compared to classes and other things that still don't operate yet.
Darn it!! They were finally gonna turn this feature on for us day after tomorrow, but every time somebody posts something like this they reset the clock on us. At this rate we’ll never be able to put stuff in bags. 🙄
I wonder if the priority is low because lots of groups do not play with encumbrance rules or count coins for encumbrance. However when you do use those rules - which DND Beyond provides - then tracking items becomes more important. I am not sure why several people are happy with changing the weight on all the items that are in their container, and certainly setting the custom weight of a container to negative effects everything else you carry - armor, weapons, etc. I also wonder if the priority is low because so many people are willing to do something else instead of adding to the numbers who would like to see a change.

Override the bag of holding to -485 lbs. Works for me!

This is a great idea actually!!

Sooo goood!
Thank you for this post. Was trying to figure out a way to implement the Bag of Holding.
