With the recent update, you can assign items to a specific container now. However, when adding items in a bag of holding, it still counts towards your carrying capacity.

They've said that automatic weight override for things like bags of holding is planned. For the time being, you can set your bag of holding to have a negative weight modifier equal to 15 - the weight of the items inside. This will quickly adjust your encumbrance
The new update where you can add items to the bag of holding etc is good imo, but I mostly add custom items to it (gold bars, notebooks, dragon scales mostly) but there is not an option to add these yet.

Does anyone know if and when this planned?
Per the Dev update from a few weeks ago, when they announced the feature, it is planned, and the backend work is already being done on it. As always, no ETA on release.

I've found an easy way to do this in the mean time. I add 1 sheet of paper to the Bag of Holding and then customize it to be the custom item I'm wanting to store.
If it's something custom/magical then I'll find an existing item of the same rarity, add it to the Bag of Holding, and then customize that item to be titled the name of the custom magic item.
I keep a party fund in the BoH too, and I added a gold scroll, and customized it to just be "Party Funds" and in the Notes section of the item I keep track of the total of gold, silver, etc.
Seems to be working for us. I just shared the public Character Sheet link to the party and they can all look inside anytime they want to see what's in there.
Now that the Bag of Holding is useable, is it possible to program its own weight within the bag ie. 500 pounds? and have the items we move to said bag actually count towards that total? As it stands at the time of me writing this the Bag doesn't even remove the weight off your character when you place things in it, which is the whole point.

They are still working on that, and will have it ready in a later phase of the Containers rollout.

That has the issue mention before, that your entire carrying weight is reduced, even into the negative, not just the items inside the bag. That is bothersome, as you could just disable carrying capacity at that point.
The item works to help you carry more, but it doesn't work like that on the website. It's supposed to come with the next update, if I read this thread correctly? Because that issue persists since 2017...

If you have a bag of holding containing 100 lbs of stuff, setting the weight to -85 will give you the correct inventory weight as the BoH only ever weighs 15 lb.
As for issues, I don't think this has been an issue since 2017 seeing as containers were only released two months ago.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but I found out equipement assigned to containers is NOT copied over when you make a copy of a character. :-(

Thanks I ll post a new thread.
It is all items in containers. Only items under equipment is copied.

That's also a known issue, and likely going to be fixed later in the rollout (I hope?)

Why doesn’t this work? Why would you put out a feature that doesn’t work?
It's been fixed since. I just tested copying a character, all items copied over with their containers.

Still doesn’t work. Items in the bag count to your carrying capacity. You get encumbered.
Looks like it works now
I noticed too, great work DnD B team!

Woo! It's glorious!
Do we have a actual way to put money in your bag of holding, with appropriate weight.
