Still no word on this? Have we put this up on their various other feedback settings?
It is planned, but it's a ways off. The Feature Roadmap lists it as longer term/planned. (It's part of inventory management enhancements). There's a LOT of things listed in the "Short term/next up" category, so I would be surprised if we see any progress on bag of holding/inventory management in 2019. But that's just my guess as a fan; I don't have any inside information on timing or plans.
hmm, with the number of infused "bag of holding's" on the verge of showing up in every game, you'd think this would be happening sooner then later...oh wait this is from june....eh...still a problem....
this is page 2, the current Issue has been here since 2017
As this is a request not a bug it will be low priority. Since you can, effectively, do this already (customise - set weight to 0, add note to indicate weight and where it is) it's going to be a very low priority.
It's a lot of coding and work to provide a slightly more convenient way to do something you can already do. Given the other, more important, things they are working on and have planned - I would not expect this feature to happen soon.
It's great to express you want this too, but when doing so please remember this is not an issue and is not a bug - it's just something you want. They're already said they're adding it, so please be patient for it to be.

If the bag of holding ever becomes functional, one way to make it function would be if it is in your inventory all your stuff would gain another button at the bottom in the item popup window. The button would be near the other button to say if it is in eqipped. Items in the bag could then be still listed but ghosted out. The equipment page would gain a button to filter out the items in the bag of holding in your personal inventory. All this and the weight shifting would then be done for you. The bag of holding item page would show you not what is in it but would tell you how much weight is in it, perhaps eventually it could also communicate if an over size item is in it. On the equipment page an overloaded bag of holding would also gain a red subtext of "over carrying capacity" next to the gray "wondrous item". If done this way it would interrupt the user interface the least and not require another window and work in the confines of our current ui, but I'm not a coder, so what might seem minimalistic to me visually might not be minimalistic to code. My gut says the most compicated and buggy part will be the shifting weights.
I really like the idea of being able to sort my items into my bags, whether it's a backpack with a set weight limit or a bag of holding with special circumstances. I hope this is a feature soon!

Getting two children to sit still and slay a dragon is not as easy as you'd think...
Following. I guess this also applies to Ring of Spell Storing as well.
My character now has both and while I have to use the Customization>Notes for the spells in my Ring of Spell Storing, that will not be convenient for the bag of holding.
You can customise items - set weight to 0, in notes field indicate weight and that it is in Bag of Holding.
And just like that the items in bag of holding are no longer adding to your encumbrance and yet you can still easily see which items are in there.
It may not be exactly the way you want it, but it does precisely the function you're re requesting, it's still better than pen and paper.
This is why it is low priority: because you can already do it.
Ring of Spell Storing
This may not ever get added. It's not a common enough need, a simple note does just fine, and it would be even more complicated to code up for such a little thing. Make a note in the notes box or customise the ring to have 5 charges and edit the description to list the spells. You'll have to edit each time you change which spells are stored but the charges makes it easier to track - you could go further to add the spells and then be able to click them right from the Spells section of the sheet.

This is what I do at the moment, and it works. I sometimes forget to reset the weight on items when they are taken out and so forth.
Ring of Spell Storing would be nice to have with this feature too. Many items that have charges have the option to click when you use a charge for the spells that are contained within. Staff of Defense from The Lost Mines of Phandelver comes to mind. Shouldn't be too difficult to code the ability to switch spells stored within an item like this. I do admit, I haven't done any coding since the late 90s, so I do not know what is all involved anymore.
So as a programmer myself, depending on how they are storing data, let alone the display of it, I can see "putting things into a the bag of holding" as difficult. But another short term option might be to have another header in equipment, like the Attunement and Other Possessions headers, but for magical storage, that acts just like Inventory, but has a separate weight. Maybe with the possibility of having several different headers of magical storage.

Yes, easiest way would be to add a simple checkbox, something like "Ignore weight". Because it is in magical storage or not stored on your person (a chest in a stronghold, stuff in a cartwheel, etc.). Sure, you can edit all this stuff to give them 0 weight but if you're frequently storing/retrieving them it can quickly become a hassle.
Any other speculation (like my last reply about the Container tag) would be wasted anyway, because there's an inventory revamp on the roadmap and everything we know about inventory management might be moot by the end of the year.
This would be nice! Not really interested in manually setting all the different equipment weights to zero. And it would be nice to know what is in the bag and what's not. Especially if we are talking about Handy Haversack that has a smaller weight limit.

I can’t believe this has been going on since 2017 and still no progress or even addressing of the issue...
They have addressed it, they've said it's on the roadmap but a lower priority than other features.

We've started making a character in the campaign called bag of holding, then leaving them unassigned and the whole party has access to it.

Container would be great
I pay money for this." nagging " is the only way to let them know what we want.

Simplest way to implement it is to allow a dropdown list of Containers. Item tag "container" already exist. So you could specify what's where.
Customizing weight to zero is okay but tiresome, especially in games with lot of inventory management.

I keep using the custom weight to 0. As of now. I dont see it being a big priority when there is a override you can do for it
