So I have the hand book, and I just bought the Necro class stuff online. Still no option for me to add Inflict Wounds to my spell book. I see it in the list of all possible spells, but not listed on the page where I select adding spells.
You've been very helpful. If you could explain why my BOOK has this listed as a Spell at lvl1, as does the web app itself, that I should be able to take alongside Ray of Sickness, yet my CHARACTER cannot take it, that would be even more helpful.
Anyone else with any answers is also welcome to chime in with useful answers that may go past one word.

You can only learn spells that are on your class' spell list. If you're a wizard, for example, you can only learn spells that are on the wizard spell list, which inflict wounds is not.

It's to do with the history of the spell. It was originally a corruption of the cure wounds spells. Evil clerics could take it instead of the cure spell, and as only clerics could take the cure spells then only clerics could take the inflict spells.

Thank you,
He explained in his first response. It isn't on the wizard spell list. He gave you the most useful answer you will get. There is no need to be rude to Matthias

View it how you will, clearly he could have been way more helpful, and chose not to be, as evidenced by his second answer.
Since DnD Beyond lists this as Necromancy Spell at lvl1, and Wizards can choose to specialize in that school and choose other lvl1 Necromancy spells, and the DnD 5th Players handbook also lists it as a lvl1 Necromancy spell, it seems odd that I cannot take it along with the other lvl1 Necromancy spells that I can take.
That is what is confusing me, and hopefully more explains my question so that an answer can be given that even apparently a moron like me can understand.
You asked why you couldn't add this spell to your spellbook when it appeared elsewhere on the site. Matthias answered that. Now if you want to know why Wizards of the Coast did not make Inflict Wounds a part of the Wizards spell list, then that is a different question that was not asked in your first post. Hopefully, others can answer that question for you.

Grendel answered that question.

So let me try to explain this another way. Wizards are limited to the spells included on the wizard spell list, available here (or you can use the Spell listing feature here and filter for only Wizard spells). Every spell, whether available to wizards or not, has an associated spell school; just because a spell is listed as being part of a particular school does not mean a wizard from that school has access to it. The spell has to also be on the wizard list. Inflict Wounds is classified as a Necromancy spell, but it is not on the wizard spell list. Inflict wounds is only available to clerics and oathbreaker paladins. Grendel has explained why this is above.
If this explanation isn't clear, please say so and specify what has you confused. I honestly don't think anyone was trying to be rude or unhelpful here: I thought Matthias has answered your question. What I (and presumably the others) did not understand until you spelled it out more clearly is that you were working under the assumption that Necromancers had access to all necromancy spells whether or not they appear on the wizard spell list.
To be more specific: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/classes/wizard#Spellcasting refers repeatedly to "wizard spells", which mean spells from the wizard spell list or spells that a feature has specifically allowed you to learn as if they were wizard spells. The schools of magic are a flavor that applies to all spells regardless of class, and adds some mechanics for wizards.

Any help or thoughts on this?
If you're a wizard of the School of Necromancy, it's because inflict wounds isn't on the wizard spell list.

But Ray of Sickness is?

You can get Inflict Wounds using the Shadow Touched Feat (TCE), and if you choose +1 INT from the feat you can cast it using your INT too.
TIP: Cast it through your familiar, so you dont need to get too close!
