During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available in the D&D 5th edition SRD and D&D 5th edition Basic Rules and will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has not yet been announced.
I don't know if this has already been asked and I'm too lazy to trawl through the forum pages to see, but could there be a filter for looking at spells of a certain school on the spell list? I.E. Necromancy, Divination, Illusion, all that jazz. Seems like it would be really helpful.
Loving the whole thing so far. This site is going to be extremely helpful for future campaigns.

Hi Smashfan64,
Click "Show advanced filters" and then select the magic school(s) you want in the "Spell school" filter box. :)
Kind of an odd, small idea. There are already so many unusual filters that it didn't seem too out of place.
What about a filter for range? If someone wanted to build a specialty character, I could see that coming in to play. Or make sure they could pick a spell that supplemented what they currently have. Do they have too many touch spells and not enough that can hit someone 60ft or more away?
I mostly thought of it because I was thinking of a novelty character with distant spell and spell sniper. Either finding the spells that can get the longest range possible or grabbing as many touch spells as possible and turning them in to ranged attacks. Shocking Grasp + Distant + Sniper = Force Lightning.
Also I second those who have said to be able to filter OUT a component. If k search for V, I don't necessarily want every spell with a V, I want the spells that ONLY use a V. Or spells that don't have an S. That's big because many classes dont have a free hand while using sword and shield, and still want to cast spells.
I couldn't pull up or search for the thorn whip cantrip. With and then without filters

On the spell list when filtering by all spells and casting time of 1 reaction or ritual, you can get a long list and they don't mention the class associated. At first I was not sure how to get it by class or if you should add class to the list. But then I tested the class selector/filtering at the top of the page on an already filtered list, IT WORKED. I really like that feature!
I've noticed two spells are missing their component (VSM) details, Mislead & Truestrike.
On the component search filter the function seems a little limited, would a 3rd toggle state be possible? e.g. V - Yes, S - Neutral, M - No. To allow searches for verbal spells, without material components, with or without gestures.
What would be useful for game play would be for the spell title bar to indicate if monetary value M is involved for knowing whether a focus was applicable.

For Mislead and True Strike, I'm seeing the correct S (Somatic) showing which is what is present in the SRD - is there a particular page or place you see these details missing?
I know the request for toggling the components on/off has been mentioned, I agree, it would be very helpful to have these as toggles.
Right now V, S, and M are pretty much toggles. Either it is on for searching or it is off. So you can't get combos like V+M only without all the others with V or an M in them. Not sure the easiest way to do it but I suggested coming up with a way for VM, MS, VS and VSM where it has to have both or all three and nothing else shows. I'm thinking this might be a possibility with the improved search engine they are adding later in the beta.
But I am repeating myself now though let's make this happen somehow. ;)

It was on the spell summary bar rather than the detail, but between finding one, checking & posting re: the only 2 there were... it got corrected. Well done guys! Diligence at its finest.
Just wanted to post my appreciation of the ability to see at a glance what kind of AoE spell it is from the general list of spells. The sphere, cube, square, all really cool.
I think, like with monsters, the lists are going to be expanded on in the next few days. It was only recently they revealed that they were adding in Basic Rules on top of SRD. They have a list of the spells, and I'm sure they are going to be added!

So it's only going to be the BASIC basic rules and not the complete basic rule book that was released in print? This is a little frustrating since I'm trying to implement this in my group so we have an "extra book" on hand.
It sounds like the "basic rules" you're talking about is the Player's Handbook. All published materials such as that will be released when the final product is launched. As VT's quote states. This is a free beta so it'll only contain content that is available freely from WotC.

Would be nice if one of the Spell filters could deal with the schools of study (ie: evocation, conjuration, etc).
